Job Description

Quantum Machines is a global leader in control systems for quantum computing, a field on the verge of exponential growth. Our innovative hardware and software mark a groundbreaking approach in quantum computer control, scaling from individual qubits to expansive arrays of thousands. At the core of QM lies a passionate and ambitious team committed to reshaping the construction and operation of quantum computers. Our work is fueled by a deep understanding of customer needs, driving us to deliver unparalleled solutions in this revolutionary field.

We are looking for a Customer Support Engineer to join our global customer support team in a dedicated, embedded capacity. This is a unique hybrid role sitting at the intersection of customer success, system validation, and hands-on problem solving.

You will be the day-to-day technical owner of one of our most strategic accounts, supporting their operations across multiple sites in the Paris metropolitan area. Day to day, you'll be on-site, diagnosing complex hardware-software issues, supporting system operations, and serving as the live connection between the customer and QM's R&D, engineering and management.

This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role. You'll be the face of Quantum Machines at this account the person our customer calls when something isn't working, and the person our engineering teams rely on for ground-truth field intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary on-site technical point of contact for a strategic customer across their Paris-area sites, acting as a trusted partner to their engineering and research teams
  • Own all support cases end-to-end within agreed SLAs, from initial triage through root cause resolution
  • Communicate proactively, set expectations, propose workarounds, and ensure high customer satisfaction throughout
  • Diagnose complex multidisciplinary issues across hardware, firmware, and software layers of QM's quantum control systems
  • Analyze logs, reproduce failure scenarios, and interpret system test data to isolate root causes
  • Support hardware installations, system bring-up, and configuration changes; maintain the integrity of operational and test setups across sites
  • Train customer personnel on system operation and best practices, building self-sufficiency over time
  • Work closely with QM's R&D, Validation, and Product teams to resolve issues and translate field findings into actionable product feedback
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical support, field engineering, or system validation role
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Proven hands-on experience troubleshooting and diagnosing multidisciplinary hardware-software systems
  • Comfortable working in Linux environments: CLI, Bash scripting, and log analysis
  • Fluent in both French and English
  • Based in or willing to relocate to the Paris area
  • Independent, self-motivated, and proactive with a strong sense of ownership

Advantages

  • Academic background in Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience at a startup or fast-paced technology company
  • Background in validation, test automation, or system integration
  • Familiarity with lab instruments and signal processing tools
  • Knowledge of IT and computer networks
  • Experience with service tools (Salesforce service cloud, Jira, or similar)
