Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking an Air Proprietary Senior Digital Engineering Manager (Level M) to join the Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) Team in Berkeley, MO.

In this role, you will lead the Digital Engineering teams that are part of the Digital Ecosystem Integrated Product Team (IPT), responsible for developing a future-ready, state-of-the-art Digital Ecosystem. The Digital Ecosystem facilitates seamless collaboration and data exchange among customers, industry partners, and other stakeholders, enhancing mission readiness, operational effectiveness, and driving innovation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the program execution and leadership of the Digital Engineering teams responsible for architecting and integrating enterprise solutions to implement the program’s data management strategy, enabling advanced data analytics, AI/ML capabilities, and streamlined collaboration. In addition, this cross-functional team is responsible for Configuration Management / Data Management, Product Lifecycle Management, Assured Data Transfers, and enterprise tool application support and administration. 

The role will require the ability to plan, organize, and direct activities to meet cost, schedule, and performance goals. This includes establishing the vision and strategy for technical approaches with subject matter experts, coordinating resources across functional areas, and managing technical subcontractor activities to align with program objectives. 
 

Additionally, the role involves establishing strong relationships with program customers and stakeholders, implementing an effective team operating rhythm integrated with the IPT and broader program schedule, and fostering clear communication and collaboration. The leader will develop and track performance metrics to measure technical and business outcomes, manage Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting and analysis, and oversee risk, issue, and opportunity management. 

 
The ideal candidate will champion a team culture of transparency, inclusivity, and collaboration to achieve successful program execution and ensure the systems engineering, technical integrity, and quality of the integrated system. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Leadership of Integrated Teams: Lead the Digital Engineering and PLM teams focused on software, system and data integration development efforts in support of digital engineering / model-based engineering capabilities and Product Lifecycle Management. 
  • Collaborative Engagement: Work cross-functionally with multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), functions, and the BDS Digital Production System “Sapphire” team to enable adoption and integration of new digital engineering capabilities and the BDS Sapphire architecture into the Digital Ecosystem. 
  • Team Execution; Responsibility, Accountability and Authority for the execution of the Digital Engineering and PLM scope of work and charters. Actively participate in agile development, including program increment planning.  
  • Customer Engagement: Interface daily with customers and Boeing program office teams. 
  • Technical Leadership & Engineering Excellence: Foster a proactive environment for technical oversight and risk management. Champions the use of Development Excellence methodology, technical design reviews, and integrating expertise to achieve digital engineering solutions. Establishes governance and consideration of standard tools, processes, and legacy architectures to yield step change improvements in digital engineering capabilities. 
  • Coaching & Skill Development: Prioritize the development and career growth of your employees and team and enhance the skills of team members and through effective coaching, mentoring, and performance assessments.  
  • Resource Management: Strategically plan and coordinate the allocation of resources to achieve program objectives. 

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or internationally depending on business needs.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance with ability to receive special program access (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Minimum 7 years of engineering leadership experience. 
  • Minimum 3 years of formal engineering management experience. 
  • Experience managing risks, cost performance, and schedule performance across multiple engineering disciplines. 
  • Experience integrating complex systems  
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively at multiple levels (direct reports, peers, executive leaders, and customers) 
  • Proven track record of execution in a development environment. 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Master’s degree or higher 
  • Experience in a leadership role leading diverse teams, initiatives, or projects to meet business objectives and influence change 
  • Experience with team building, developing and motivating employees 
  • Knowledge of or experience with Siemens Teamcenter Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and systems integration between Teamcenter and Enterprise Resource Planning and Manufacturing Execution Systems or other Digital Production System Tools 
  • Experience working with and managing Supplier(s) 
  • Experience across multiple phases of the product life-cycle 
  • Demonstrated strong foundational expertise in Digital Engineering and Model Based Engineering (MBE)  
  • Experience with agile planning and collaboration tools such as JIRA and Confluence

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  Summary pay range: $198,900- $269,100
