MSRC is reviewing candidates for a future opening for the position of Vice President, Nearshore West (VP-NSW).
The VP-NSW reports to the CEO and will be based in either Everett, WA, Concord, CA, or Long Beach, CA. The VP-NSW is responsible for effective and efficient spill response operations, meeting customer satisfaction expectations, and conducting business in compliance with regulatory requirements and contractual obligations. The VP-NSW oversees response sites across California, Oregon, and Washington, and is responsible for the associated personnel and budget responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instill commitment to MSRC’s mission, foster a safety-first mindset, and lead an environment of teamwork and innovation.
- Support personnel development within the division, including succession planning, employee development and training, and recruiting and retention efforts.
- Ensure MSRC’s safety program is fully understood and embraced throughout the Division and that all sites and personnel operate in compliance with all applicable health, safety and environmental laws, regulations, and policies.
- Manage and enhance customer relationships, regularly meet with company representatives, articulate the strength of MSRC’s services, and assess customers’ evolving needs so that MSRC can continue to deliver outstanding products and services.
- Ensure MSRC’s regulatory obligations are continually reviewed and that the contractor network is fully qualified and available for spill or emergency response.
- Lead personnel throughout the Division to ensure optimal response readiness and coach and develop senior managers to support succession planning.
- Oversee the annual budget process for the Division, balancing long-term goals with short-term objectives.
- Assume responsibility for additional projects as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental, business, or other related discipline preferred.
- Fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in oil spill or emergency response with proven personnel management, leadership, and project management skills.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with oil spill management, customer and regulatory requirements, and safety practices and protocols.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage, motivate, and develop employees individually and as part of a team.
- Fiscal responsibility and budget management skills.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, delegate, and stay accountable.
- Competent and comfortable written and oral communicator, in all modes and across all levels of employees and stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
Compensation Disclosure:
Compensation for this position ranges from $150,000 to $350,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as location, experience, skills, and market data. Beyond base salary, total compensation may include variable performance bonus compensation, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
