
Assistant Dock Coordinator 1st Shift
Job Description
The Assistant Dock Coordinator serves as the primary backup to the Dock Coordinator, ensuring uninterrupted dock operations during breaks, lunches, and absences. In addition to supporting dock flow and execution, this role is responsible for reviewing load plans for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with FSQA standards, validating temperature requirements, and managing direct interaction with drivers. This position plays a key role in maintaining both operational efficiency and regulatory compliance at the dock.
Key Responsibilities
Dock Coordination Backup & Flow Support
• Provide full coverage for the Dock Coordinator during breaks, lunches, and absences
• Support real time dock operations, including:
• Monitoring dock status and door utilization
• Assisting with prioritization and workflow adjustments
• Supporting communication across picking and docks.
Load Plan Review & FSQA Compliance
• Review all load plans upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness, including:
• All required fields are properly filled out
• Alignment with shipment, product, and carrier details
• Ensure all documentation meets FSQA guidelines, procedures, and audit requirements
• Verify that temperature requirements are:
• Properly documented
• Accurately recorded in systems
• Aligned with product and load specifications
• Identify and correct discrepancies before loads are finalized or released
Driver Interaction & Documentation
• Check-in (as needed)
• Paperwork handoff and review
• Departure process
• Ensure all required paperwork is:
• Completed accurately
• Signed and distributed as required
• Provide clear instructions and maintain professional communication with drivers
Trailer & Door Compliance
Ensure all trailers are:
• Properly sealed with correct seal numbers documented
• Doors are closed, secured, and compliant prior to departure
• Validate that all outbound loads meet operational and compliance standards before release
• Escalate any issues related to trailer condition, sealing, or documentation
Quality, Accuracy & Accountability
• Maintain high attention to detail to prevent compliance gaps or operational errors
• Ensure all processes align with company standards, safety policies, and FSQA expectations
• Support audit readiness by maintaining accurate and complete documentation
• Escalate any compliance or process deviations immediately
Qualifications & Skills
• Previous experience in warehouse, dock, or shipping operations required
• Strong understanding of dock operations, load planning, and shipping processes
• Knowledge of FSQA standards and compliance requirements preferred
• Experience handling shipping documentation and driver interactions
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation review
• Effective communication skills across teams and with external drivers
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
