Position Summary: The buyer position is responsible for sourcing and procuring materials and components necessary to support the assembly of complex aerospace products. The buyer position requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgement when evaluating competing suppliers, determining sourcing strategies, and making recommendations affecting customer expenditures while balancing, cost, quality, schedule and regulatory requirements.
What You will Do:
- Provide expert support across various supply chain disciplines, primarily focused on procurement operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams to ensure timely procurement and shipment of supplies in support of government contracts.
- Source new vendors and suppliers; assist in gathering market intelligence, pricing data, and process evaluations.
- Execute approved procurement initiatives under the guidance of a supervisor.
- Respond to and resolve procurement-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure strict adherence to applicable import/export, excise regulations, and regulatory compliance (FAR/DFAR).
- Oversee full lifecycle of parts procurement — from RFQ (request for quote), supplier selection, price negotiation, to order placement and delivery.
- Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement in quality, cost, and delivery metrics.
- Track contract performance and ensure alignment with contractual terms and regulatory obligations.
- Manage Return to Vendor (RTV) parts; requesting Return Material Authorizations, processing return PO’s, generating return shippers, and driving rework/repair to re-delivery.
- Lead or participate in Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings, supporting coordination between manufacturing and procurement teams.
- Review escalated parts shortages or supply chain gaps and assist in mitigation planning.
- Use SAP (preferred) to process purchase orders, maintain supplier data, and track procurement status.
What You Will Bring:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a supply chain/procurement role supporting government-funded projects.
- Familiarity with FAR and DFAR regulations.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage supplier relationships effectively.
- Experience with procurement lifecycle from quote to delivery.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Understanding of compliance regulations, import/export rules, and government procurement procedures.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or government contracting sectors.
Pay Range: Salary Range $68000/year - $74000/year
Compensation decisions are made based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors, in accordance with our internal pay structure. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan.
