The HR Coordinator provides administrative support for Governor’s Crime Commission (GCC) HR functions under the guidance of the Executive Director. This position covers the following areas within Human Resources Administration: Recruiting Processing, Benefits and Time Administration, and assist management with HR Processes.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

• Assisting with basic HR actions such as FMLA requests, promotions, separations, and leave entries.
• Assists with payroll and time entry in Fiori by checking for errors, helping employees and supervisors correct issues, and running routine reports.
• Supports job postings and internal recruitment tasks and assignments, tracks vacancies, and organizes referral and recommendation packets for DPS HR.
• Enters data using MS Excel application.

The Governor's Crime Commission (GCC) is the chief advisory body to the Governor and the Secretary of the Department of Public Safety on crime and justice issues. The GCC administers federal and state grants and is the State Administering Agency (SAA) for the following federal block and formula grant programs: Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP), Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG), Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Sexual Assault Services Program (SASP) and Children's Justice Act (CJA). Grants are awarded on a competitive basis to government, law enforcement agencies, non-profit agencies, educational and social service agencies.

Salary Recruitment Range: $37,377.00 - $48,304.00

The work schedule is Monday through Friday (8AM – 5PM). We value our employees and are committed to providing flexibility in work schedules. This position qualifies for teleworking on a part-time basis as part of the State Telework Program.

DPS uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals.   The Minimum Education and Experience (E&E) is REQUIRED to qualify for this position. Management Preferences, including Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs), are not required but may be used to determine the pool of most qualified applicants. Managers may also choose to interview/select applicants who demonstrate Management Preferences.

Management Preferences   

  • Experience using Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) software platforms (e.g., FIORI /SAP, Workday)
  • Experience managing confidential records (e.g. human resource data, medical records, etc.).
  • Experience in employee selection and recruitment.

Transcripts  

·       Attaching transcripts is optional; however, we recommend applicants attach unofficial transcripts to assist in providing credit for education including in substituting education gained for experience. Additionally, qualifying for some positions may require validating hours of coursework in a specific field of study and transcripts are crucial to awarding credit. Degrees and transcripts must be achieved from an appropriately accredited college or university.     

·       Applicants who earned college credit hours but did not complete a degree program must attach an unofficial transcript to receive credit for education.  

·       International degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting.  Failure to provide documentation may result in ineligibility.   Military Experience   

·       Applicants seeking Veteran's Preference must attach a DD-214 Form (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty that includes Character of Discharge - Member 4 or Service 2 form) to the application.

·       Applicants seeking National Guard Preference:   A current member of the North Carolina National Guard in good standing must attach a NGB 23A (RPAS).  A former member of the North Carolina National Guard who served for at least 6 years and was discharged under honorable conditions must attach either a DD256 or NGB 22.

Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 1 year of experience required; or 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
