
Engineering Shift Team Leader

Hexcel is currently seeking an Engineering Shift Team Leader for our Duxford, UK location.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
- Lead the shift response to reactive maintenance, ensuring clear and effective communication.
- Prepare the plant for planned maintenance and projects, including managing permits and isolations.
- Manage and coordinate engineering resources in line with plant priorities.
- Maintain accurate and timely shift logs and effectively use the CMMS system.
- Collaborate with the team to deliver site priorities and operational targets.
- Identify inventory requirements, ensure timely reordering, and follow correct stores procedures.
- Promote and embed problem-solving techniques within the shift engineering team.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering operations.
- Coordinate the overhaul and repair of components within the onsite workshop.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, quality standards, and statutory requirements while developing team capability through coaching and training.
Qualifications:
- HNC (or nationally recognised equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, supported by a recognised apprenticeship.
- Relevant certifications including ATEX, DSEAR, CompEx, IOSH Managing Safely, and BS7671 18th Edition.
- Experience in hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
- Confined space and permit-to-work training.
- Proven experience working within manufacturing, chemical, or process environments with a strong maintenance delivery record.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to balance and integrate differing functional demands.
- Effective coach and role model with proven capability in training, monitoring, and developing team performance.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, with strong time management and results-focused mindset.
- Sound decision-making ability, including risk identification, management, and escalation, with the adaptability to respond to changing priorities and build strong cross-functional relationships.
