Job Description
The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring electrical control panels are built, tested, and released to meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory standards such as UL508A, NEC, and ISO. The role focuses on preventing defects, improving First Pass Yield (FPY), and enabling consistent, repeatable production processes.
This role will report directly to and work with the Director of Operations to drive quality from the floor. There is a growth opportunity to develop into a Quality Manager to oversee this role in the future.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inspection & Verification
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections
- Verify compliance with schematics, BOMs, and work instructions
- Conduct first article inspections and final release checks
Testing & Validation
- Execute continuity, point-to-point, and functional testing
- Validate grounding, torque, and safety requirements
- Confirm panel readiness prior to shipment
In-Process Quality Control
- Audit wiring, labeling, routing, and terminations
- Verify component placement
- Ensure adherence to UL, NEC, and internal standards
Non-Conformance Management
- Identify and segregate non-conforming materials
- Generate NCRs and manage rework/scrap disposition
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions (CAPA)
Documentation & Traceability
- Maintain inspection reports and test records
- Support audit readiness and documentation compliance
- Identify errors in documentation and oversee corrective actions (CAPA)
Calibration & Equipment
- Verify calibration of tools and test equipment
- Maintain calibration logs and control out-of-tolerance tools
Continuous Improvement & Support
- Identify recurring defects and escalation trends
- Support process improvements with engineering and production
- Provide guidance and training to technicians
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience preferably in the electrical field
- Strong understanding of QA/QC tools, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and ISO9001
- Hands-on experience with NETA testing and other electrical test procedures (IR, insulation resistance, thermography, etc.).
Experience, Skill and Abilities
- Positive safety attitude and personal integrity – both are non-negotiable
- Ability to read and interpret specifications, drawings, and quality test results.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, and BIM models.
- Proven ability to identify and resolve quality issues in a manufacturing or construction environment.
Physical Requirements
Office and field environment requiring sitting and standing. Travel to various work sites is possible, exposing employee to outdoor elements, noise and the need to stand and walk.
