The Global Job Trainer plays a critical role in developing, delivering, and standardizing training content and coaching across LEGO® Manufacturing Virginia’s molding areas. This is a standard shift (8am-4pm) with the flexibility to work non-standard shifts as necessary. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with global training responsibilities. 

This role is responsible for designing training materials, coaching employees and job coaches, supporting onboarding, and ensuring standardized work practices using Job Instruction methodology. Trainers are also accountable for embedding and sustaining global standards in their respective areas and are active participants in the Global Trainer Network, representing Virginia in cross-site alignment and knowledge sharing efforts. 

The Global Job Trainer – Injection Molding Machine Maintenance supports the Molding department. Approximately 60% of the time is dedicated to formal training, development, documentation, and instruction. The remaining time is spent actively engaged in Machine Maintenance to maintain relevant technical skills and provide on-the-floor coaching.

Key Responsibilities: 

Training Development & Execution 

  • Create and maintain high-quality, up-to-date training materials, job aids, and standardized work documents for assigned area. 

  • Deliver TWI Job Instruction (JI) and support structured on-the-job training for new hires, cross-training, and upskilling efforts. 

  • Mentor and evaluate local job coaches, building frontline training capability across all shifts. 

  • Monitor training effectiveness and take proactive action to maintain consistency and compliance with best practices. 

Operational & Technical Engagement 

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment to minimize downtime and ensure production continuity.  

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues using appropriate tools and documentation (e.g., schematics, manuals).  

  • Support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) efforts by participating in continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining accurate documentation of maintenance activities.  

  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.  

Quality, Safety & Communication 

  • Ensure training meets safety, quality, and production performance standards. 

  • Participate in area whiteboard meetings, huddles, and shift pass-downs to align training needs and reinforce performance expectations. 

  • Assess and escalate visual quality or process deviations in accordance with escalation procedures. 

Global Standardization & Collaboration 

  • Serve as the local expert and point of contact when global training standards are introduced or updated. 

  • Align and deploy global standards in the local area, ensuring accuracy, adherence, and full implementation. 

  • Collaborate with other Global Job Trainers across LEGO sites as part of the Global Trainer Network to share knowledge, resolve challenges, and build consistency across plants. 

Qualifications 

Education & Experience 

  • High school diploma or GED required. 

  • Additional technical training or certifications in manufacturing, maintenance, or production operations are a plus. 

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in molding machine maintenance. 

  • Proven understanding of workflows, safety protocols, and quality standards in a production or manufacturing environment. 

  • Experience in training, mentoring, or onboarding team members preferred. 

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for training as needed.

Skills & Competencies 

  • Strong communication and coaching skills; able to clearly explain tasks and provide constructive feedback. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced production setting. 

  • Comfortable using digital tools such as email, document systems, and production tracking tools. 

  • Proficiency in English (verbal and written) required – minimum CEFR level B2–C1 or equivalent. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with LEAN, standard work, or continuous improvement methodologies. 

  • Familiarity with digital systems such as MES, SAP, or CHAMP (training will be provided if needed). 

  • Prior experience with structured training methods such as TWI Job Instruction or similar is a strong advantage. 

Compensation

The salary for this position has a range of $35.65 - $35.65 based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints. The LEGO Group carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to prior experience, skills, expertise, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive remuneration details, inclusive of benefits, will be communicated upon finalisation of the employment offer.
