French Cooking: Thursdays, 7:00pm-9:00pm
Italian Essentials: Thursdays, 7:00pm-9:00pm
Around The World Cooking: Adult: Mondays and Fridays 7:00pm-8:30pm
Chinese Style Cooking: Fridays, 7:00pm-9:00pm
Cooking with Children: Mondays and Fridays 5:00pm-6:30pmJOB SUMMARY
The successful candidate will plan, organize, instruct and lead cooking classes for adult and children's learning. Cooking classes will entail instruction in gourmet cooking, showcasing a variety of techniques and diverse cuisine. We’re looking to hire Specialty Cooking Instructors for the following programs: French Cooking, Italian Essentials, Chinese Style Cooking, all around the world cooking for adults & children.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitating. leading and supervising adult learning classes in cooking;
- Developing, organizing and writing lesson plans;
- Preparing and organizing any necessary program instruments and/or equipment;
- Ensuring safety procedures are followed at all times by class participants;
- Keeping attendance records and checking with participants who have extended absences.
- Maintaining inventory of supplies
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- High school diploma required
- Post-secondary education is preferred
- Minimum age of 16 years old at the start of employment
- Culinary training from a recognized institution
- Certified Food Handling Certificate
- Minimum of 3 years of previous experience in instructing individuals of all ages and ability levels in cooking, as well as 5 or more years of experience learning and developing techniques/expertise in cooking
- Ability to teach cooking at a basic level (not competition level)
- Current Standard First Aid or Intermediate First Aid with CPR C and AED
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.
- Good verbal/written communication skills, leadership skills, customer service skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversity of patrons and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
