Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Traffic Control Branch Manager to oversee and manage the operations of our new Albany, NY branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient management of traffic control services, including the planning, coordination, and execution of traffic control plans for construction sites, events, and other activities requiring safe road management. The Branch Manager will lead a team of traffic control technicians and flaggers ensuring compliance with safety regulations, budget management, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the traffic control branch, ensuring efficient delivery of services to clients.
Develop and implement traffic control plans, including managing lane closures, detours, signs, cones, barriers, and other traffic management devices.
Ensure all traffic control projects comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations and guidelines.
Manage the staffing, scheduling, and training of the traffic control team, ensuring all workers are appropriately certified and prepared.
Provide safety training and guidance to traffic control personnel and ensure adherence to safety protocols at all times.
Monitor the progress of traffic control projects, addressing any operational or safety issues promptly.
Maintain and manage the branch’s inventory of equipment, tools, and traffic control devices, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and engineers to integrate traffic control plans into overall project timelines and requirements.
Conduct regular inspections of traffic control setups to ensure they are functioning properly and adjust as needed to reflect changing conditions.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
Monitor project budgets, providing cost-effective solutions while maintaining high-quality service delivery.
Provide regular reports on project performance, financials, safety compliance, and other key metrics to upper management.
Ensure that all traffic control operations are completed within the required timelines, budgets, and with minimal disruption to public traffic.
Investigate and resolve any incidents or accidents related to traffic control operations.
Continuously assess the branch’s operations and implement improvements to increase efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
3–5+ years of experience in traffic control, construction, operations, or related field.
2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience managing field teams
Proven ability to lead, develop, and hold teams accountable
Experience in workforce scheduling, staffing, and labor planning
Strong decision-making skills in fast-paced, field-based environments
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with clients, contractors, local authorities, internal stakeholders.
Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships
Strong commitment to workplace safety and risk mitigation
Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Traffic control certifications and/or strong knowledge of MUTCD, local, state and federal traffic safety regulations preferred.
