Job Description

SUMMARY

The primary role of the Production Planner is to handle the day to day administrative duties needed to support the Production team. The Production Planner will handle creating and revising purchase orders, requesting quotes from outside vendors, working with shops to schedule outside processes and operations, as well as logistical coordination within Systima. Reports to the Director of Operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managed MRP system to procure direct materials and schedule production jobs, maintaining accurate part number data and digital work orders/routings to support on-time delivery
  • Analyzed customer forecasts and historical demand data to anticipate material needs and collaborated with business development to incorporate new business into production planning
  • Leveled and optimized shop floor capacity using internally developed planning tools, working cross-functionally with operations to prioritize jobs, OSP, and material flow
  • Sourced, onboarded, and managed outside process (OSP) and material vendors, negotiating pricing and lead times to meet customer requirements and cost targets
  • Monitored supplier on-time delivery and quality performance, driving corrective actions in partnership with the quality manager to maintain supply chain integrity
  • Executed purchase requests and generated/distributed purchase orders, purchasing materials on a just-in-time basis with no standing inventory to manage
  • Maintained direct materials cost as a percentage of sales revenue, identifying cost reduction opportunities and pushing back on above-expectation pricing from vendors
  • Coordinated cycle counts, expedited critical jobs, and managed escalations to keep production on schedule and customers informed


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Required Education: High School diploma
  • Preferred Education: AA degree in related discipline 
  • Preferred Experience: 1-3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Machine Shop experience preferred. Epicor ERP experience highly desirable.
