Network Engineer

Job Mandate: We are seeking a motivated Network Engineer to support the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our network infrastructure. This role is primarily operational, ensuring stability, performance, and security of network services, while also contributing to business projects that require network design and implementation. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with firewall and routing technologies, strong troubleshooting skills, and a desire to grow into more advanced design and architecture responsibilities. Key Responsibilities: Network Operations Monitor, maintain, and support enterprise network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPN) Troubleshoot network performance issues, outages, and connectivity problems Manage firewall rules, NAT policies, and VPN configurations Perform routine maintenance, patching, and firmware upgrades Support network-related incidents and service requests in line with SLAs Maintain documentation for network configurations, diagrams, and procedures Project Support & Design Participate in network design and implementation for business driven projects Assist in planning and deploying new sites, network upgrades, and expansions Contribute to firewall and segmentation design based on security requirements Support cloud and hybrid connectivity (e.g., VPNs, site-to-site, remote access) Work with senior engineers/architects on solution design and validation Security & Compliance Implement and maintain network security controls and best practices Monitor and respond to security-related network events Assist with audits, vulnerability remediation, and policy enforcement Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with infrastructure, systems, and application teams Communicate effectively with stakeholders on incidents and project progress Escalate complex issues appropriately while taking ownership of resolution Participate in solution reviews, technical governance, and design validation Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, including application development, architecture, business operations, and external vendors/partners. Communicate effectively on project status, risks, priorities, and operational concerns. Required Qualifications 2–3 years of experience in network engineering or network support Hands-on experience with:  o Fortinet (FortiGate firewalls)  o MikroTik (routing and switching) Basic familiarity with: o Palo Alto Networks firewalls o Cisco networking equipment Solid understanding of: o TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP Last o Routing and switching concepts (VLANs, subnets, NAT, ACLs) o VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN) Experience with network troubleshooting tools and techniques Strong documentation and organizational skills Preferred Qualifications: Exposure to network design or project implementation work Familiarity with cloud networking concepts (Azure, AWS, or similar) Experience with monitoring tools and logging systems Basic scripting or automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash) Relevant certifications (or working toward): o Fortinet NSE (or equivalent) o Cisco CCNA o MikroTik MTCNA Key Competencies Strategic and analytical thinking Operational excellence mindset Cross-functional collaboration Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences What Success Looks like Reliable and stable network operations with minimal downtime Timely resolution of incidents and service requests Accurate and up-to-date network documentation Successful contribution to project delivery and network improvements Demonstrated growth in technical and design capabilities Salary: 65k-85k
