MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
This position is responsible for the service provision leading to effective and appropriate processing of potential inductions into the Odyssey House continuum of care presenting with co-occurring mental health and/or other types of disabilities. Services provided include assessment, care coordination, program orientation and advocacy. Additionally, the Licensed Clinician is responsible for maintaining OASAS regulatory compliance, SAMHSA and any other funder’s requirements and for assuring that the intake/assessment and referral processes operate in accordance with Odyssey House’s reorganizational standards for the population served. She/he is responsible for tracking/monitoring all documentation and regulatory needs for the prospective residents referred to the Odyssey House continuum while assuring the candidate is appropriate for the recommended level of care.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that potential inductions are served in a professional and appropriate manner.
- Review clinical, legal and any other pertinent documents to assess for potential program admission and care coordination. Ensure that all necessary documents are reviewed and filed.
- Provide screening/assessment, including crisis intervention with clients who express suicidal or homicidal ideation, and/or other mental health crises up to and including referrals and care coordination for inductions who present with active mental health and/or co-occurring symptoms.
- Obtain medical and psychiatric clearances when required for the admissions decision process.
- Make sure all documents are included in charts.
- Serve as a liaison/advocate with community agencies and organizations in assisting with concrete services/resources/referrals.
- Participate in efforts to monitor the quality and effectiveness of ongoing clinical services as a Qualified Health Professional.
- Maintain appropriate case records, statistical reports and prepares other reports as required.
- Function as an integral member of the treatment team and participate in team meetings, in-service workshops, as a Qualified Health Professional.
- Serve as a QHP liaison with managed care companies for authorization and reauthorization as designated by supervisor.
- Provides supervision of social work interns from area schools, after obtaining SIFI training.
- Submit reports as required.
- Participates in daily clinical and administrative meetings with staff as designated.
- Provide ongoing training for program staff and participate in Odyssey House in-service trainings.
- Other relevant duties as assigned by Supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- A Masters Degree in Social Work or a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling
- New York State Certification (LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMHC-P)
- 2 years’ Experience in the Substance Abuse Field
- Field supervision training for the supervision of interns (SIFI) preferred and the ability to provide appropriate clinical supervision to chemical dependence and mental health professionals.
- Proficiency with computer operation (Microsoft Word, Excel, Electronic Health Record and Outlook programs.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
