Job Description
SUMMARY: This position is involved in all aspects of corporate tax, including federal and state research, tax accounting and reconciliations, tax compliance, preparation income tax provision (ASC 740), and support for tax examinations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
- Prepares and supports the quarterly and annual income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740, including current and deferred tax calculations.
- Analyzes temporary and permanent differences, effective tax rate drivers, and valuation allowances.
- Prepares and reviews tax journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting workpapers.
- Assists with forecasting and tax provision analytics.
- Evaluates and documents uncertain tax positions under FIN 48 (ASC 740-10).
- Drafts technical memoranda supporting conclusions on tax positions.
- Maintains and updates UTP roll forwards and supporting documentation.
- Prepares and reviews income tax footnote disclosures for Form 10 K and 10 Q filings.
- Performs technical tax research and interpret evolving tax laws and guidance.
- Prepares, clears, audit-ready tax technical memos and position workpapers.
- Assists with preparation of federal income tax return workpapers.
- Prepares state apportionment workpapers.
- Assists with automating tax workpapers with various accounting and forecasting systems.
- Responds to federal and state tax correspondence as requested.
- Assists with responses to Information Document Requests received from the Internal Revenue Service and State Taxing Authorities as requested.
- Establishes and maintains excellent working relationships with other departments.
- Obtains timely information for various tax projects.
- Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
- Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
- Identifies and reports suspicious activity.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Tax, Accounting or Finance required.
EXPERIENCE
- 3 - 5 years Corporate and income tax compliance experience required.
- Public Accounting and/or industry experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
