Job Requirements (Principal Responsibilities)
- Effect speedy and efficient repairs to plant electrical and Instrument problems and ensure safety standard are strictly followed.
- Carry out allocated work efficiently in terms of diagnosis and method and where possible to understand production operating system. It is also required to contribute to improvements in plant operation and problem solving.
- Assist as required during installation and commissioning of new/modified equipment and update relative drawings, also to enhance job knowledge through further training.
- Carry out routine maintenance schedules including taking measurements, sequence testing and visual inspections on equipment and reporting same with recommendation for scheduled repairs, instruments calibrations.
- Fault finding and rectification of all problems associated with electrical and instrumentation in the plant and repair same to ensure minimum downtime.
- To perform all process power distribution, MCC, motor and instrumentation ( electronic & pneumatic) maintenance except calibration and DCS maintenance to ensure minimum downtime or Perform detail instrumentation work with basic electrical maintenance in MCC and Motor except main sub station to ensure minimum downtime.
- Act as a competent person to lead the work, conduct or control of any work or operator of electrical installations. Carry out repair, maintenance, troubleshoot and housekeeping works to the "gears", circuit breakers, splitters, system inclusive other power tools.
- Carry out switching work and commencing work and Switch ON and Switch OFF the electrical equipment, system and machinery as required to be carried out by competent persons as per described in the Electricity Supply Act 1990 and the Electricity Regulations 1994.
- Record the reports and status in the checklist report of the switchboards, variable tools, battery sets, feeder pillars, circuit breakers and other power tools under custody and update them in the share checklist on a weekly basis.
- Oversee the repair works, maintenance works and infrastructure development works including installation and facilities performed by the appointed contractors/companies as directed by the HOD.
- Carry out visit and perform daily check of the switchboards, switching tools, generator sets, feeder pillars, circuit breakers and other power tools under the custody and record the status of the equipment in the Chargeman daily log book.
- Take full control of transferring power from TNB to Substation for plant use and vice-versa and ensure safety is observed. Take full control of OC/EF Calibration, Switchgear, Transformer, ACB maintenance.
- Leave the job area in a safe and tidy condition and return used, defective materials and equipment to store and maintain a good standard of housekeeping in workplace.
- Maintain good housekeeping in all MCC's, sub-stations, turbine room and ensure all equipment are properly tagged and marked.
- Maintain/repair plant lighting, air-conditioners, testing equipment and instruments in the plant as needed.
- Participate in the plant cost saving initiative, implement improvement plan for the energy savings and operate the plant in effective manners.
- Actively involved in the plant 5S audit and ensure the 5S is in top priorities.
- On call or standby support production run during off hours when ever needed (during plant major breakdown)
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Behaviors)
- Knowledge in areas such as confined space entry, lockout / tag-out, hot-work permitting, etc.
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge/background in welding processes
- Knowledge of rotating equipment design and repair
- Basic knowledge of equipment lubrication
- Knowledge of ASME codes
Education/Experience
- Bachelor/University degree in a Mechanical Engineering discipline.
- Minimum two years experience in an appropriate manufacturing environment.
