Job Description

Application deadline: Jun 9, 2026

About the role

The Amazon Devices central research team seeks a Sr. User Researcher to help us understand how customers discover, learn about, and purchase Amazon Devices. You will influence the design of new features and programs that shape the customer shopping experience on web and mobile.
We seek someone who balances systems thinking with speed — uncovering customer needs and translating them into actionable insights that inform product vision. Our product, marketing, and engineering partners are eager to act on the research you produce.

About You

You have a deep understanding of user research methods and best practices that enable you to work with minimal direction and deliver high-quality outputs. When it comes to designing and executing studies, you take a nimble, creative, and pragmatic approach. You leverage AI to assist in your work and you're interested in pushing the boundaries of agile research. You manage a mix of ad-hoc research studies and recurring programs, so strong process and project management skills are essential. You bring sharp observational and analytical skills, collaborate actively to elevate research standards, and are energized by a relentless determination to do what is right for customers.

Key job responsibilities
• Collaborate with key partners (UX Designers, Design Technologists, Product teams, other Researchers) to identify research opportunities and prioritize research questions based on current knowledge, project goals, and risks.
• Translate research needs into learning plans and opportunity frameworks that align to and inform business strategy.
• Manage recurring user research programs and apply continuous improvement methods to raise quality and drive innovation.
• Own all aspects of user research studies: study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting, communication, and activation.
• Communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively to audiences at varying levels of the organization.
• Deliver measurable business impact, as evidenced by research-informed changes to product direction.

A day in the life
Our team moves fast and iterates often, and you will be moving quickly with them — but you'll also have time to zoom out and ask the big questions that change the course of programs or inspire entirely new ones.
You will work with UX Designers and Design Technologists to guide the design and prototyping of new features. You'll interact with Product Managers, Engineers, and Marketers to understand and shape research needs. You'll also collaborate with other researchers on projects and to build new tools and solutions.

About the team
We define and build e-commerce shopping platforms, features, and programs globally to support the Amazon Device shopping journey — including education, sales, and customer engagement. We execute research to inform future products and services and dive deep to improve the customer experience.
We are a multi-disciplinary team of Designers, Researchers, and Technologists who can envision, create, and execute ideas from start to finish. We maintain a collaborative culture grounded in respect and empathy for our peers and partners.
