Position Summary
Bohl Crane is seeking a motivated Engineering Co‑op student to support our Crane Project Engineering team. This role provides hands‑on experience in crane design, fabrication, project execution, and field coordination. The Engineering Co‑op will work closely with Project Engineers, Engineers, and Operations personnel to support overhead crane and lifting system projects from design through installation.

This position is ideal for an engineering student looking to build practical experience in mechanical systems, structural components, project engineering, and industrial manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Crane Project Engineers with project planning, engineering documentation, and execution
  • Support preparation and review of:
  • Engineering drawings and layouts
  • Bills of materials (BOMs)
  • Submittals and technical documentation
  • Help coordinate project activities between engineering, fabrication, field service, and vendors
  • Perform basic engineering calculations related to loads, components, and crane systems under supervision
  • Participate in design reviews and internal project meetings
  • Assist with change orders, project schedules, and cost tracking
  • Support field measurements, site visits, and installation preparation as needed
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation in accordance with company standards
  • Follow all safety procedures and quality standards

Required Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Completed at least one year of engineering coursework
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience or coursework related to Mechanical systems, Structures or statics, Manufacturing or industrial equipment
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software
  • Previous co‑op, internship, or hands‑on technical experience
  • Interest in construction, manufacturing, or heavy industrial applications
