Pavement Engineer
Sydney or Newcastle, NSW

At WSP, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to major infrastructure projects that shape communities and connect people. As a Pavement Engineer, you’ll bring your technical expertise to the design and delivery of durable, high-performing pavement solutions across multi-disciplinary transport projects.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring pavement systems are safe, cost-effective and built to last - while collaborating with a team that values technical excellence and innovation.

What you’ll do
You’ll contribute across the full project lifecycle, supporting design, review and delivery activities:

  • Review pavement materials, mix designs and maintain concrete mix registers
  • Design and assess flexible and rigid pavement systems
  • Prepare technical reports and engineering drawings
  • Undertake desktop reviews to ensure compliance with quality systems and client requirements
  • Collaborate across disciplines on major infrastructure projects
  • Support proposal preparation, including cost inputs and technical contributions
  • Apply relevant standards, regulations and best practice methodologies
  • Support safe design principles and contribute to project risk identification
  • Assist in delivering high-quality outcomes that improve client satisfaction

What you’ll bring
We’re looking for a motivated Pavement Engineer with strong technical capability and a collaborative mindset:

  • ~5+ years’ experience in pavement engineering
  • Experience in flexible and rigid pavement design and technical reporting
  • Exposure to geotechnical engineering (desirable)
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Ability to manage workloads across multiple projects and priorities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality outcomes
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team success
  • A proactive, adaptable approach with a focus on continuous improvement

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
    Working towards Chartered Engineer status
