Job Description

Primary Function: Cross-train and become capable of performing multiple functions in the Gas Turbine Division Foundry   Tools and Equipment:  Casting machines, air-operated tools, welding equipment, PPE, etc.   Materials: Metal of various alloys, shell molds, crucibles, kaowool, etc   Direction of Others: None Working Procedure: The following are the usual major job duties, but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties as assigned by the supervisor: Foundry Goal: The ultimate goal of the foundry is for all operators to be cross trained for all jobs / casting machines within the department.  Operators will be given the opportunity and are expected to train for and earn Foundry Operator “B” status as business needs of the company dictate. Primary Responsibilities: •Perform oven loading duties by acquiring molds from storage area(s) as scheduled, inspect molds for damage etc, and load molds in the ovens with proper quantity and sequence •Train on the operations of various casting machines; including CLV 1, CLV 2, CPV, and CLA •Complete all tasks associated with start-up checks for casting machines •Handle all revert metal. Perform metal prep function for foundry •Perform knockout / re-ram and heel pull duties •Follow foundry schedule and organization of molds as instructed by supervisor and foundry instructions •May serve as a backup for mold prep responsibilities to aid in expediting product flow from the Shell Dept •Must follow all safety requirements of job as outlined on the job safety card •Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor •Complete all paperwork associated with the job.  Correctly maintain all forms and instruction sheets •Maintain a clean and orderly working environment •Inform your supervisor about problems that occur •May be required to handle hazardous waste by collecting and transferring the waste into proper containers at satellite storage areas or storage areas and assuring that the containers are properly inspected, labeled, and closed as required.  Must follow correct instruction for handling hazardous waste and report any deviations to supervisor immediately.  Must attend yearly instruction in hazardous waste handling and review of current procedures if job duties could affect non-compliance. Special Skills and/or Experience: • A fully and properly trained “C” classification of Foundry Operator must be able to perform oven loading, knockout / reram, heel pulls, startup checks, and metal prep at a proficient level.   • The operator must also be capable of meeting the requirements of the “B” level classification for purposes of promotion through natural progression.  • Vision requirement of 20/30 near correctable.  • Requires sufficient strength and physical dexterity to frequently lift up to 70 lbs.     Minimum Education Requirements: • High School Diploma or GED
