Job Description
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Assessing patients and identifying actual and potential patient care needs.
- Ensuring rooms and equipment are clean prior to bringing patient to a room.
- Evaluating the patient/family response to the treatment and modifying care accordingly.
- Completing accurate, concise documentation in the patient's chart in a timely manner while patient is in the department.
- Conveying respect of patient's rights and treating all patients with dignity.
- Practicing and promoting positive customer/peer relations while fostering a learning work environment.
- Triage patients by accurately accessing and documenting weight, vital signs, chief complaint, and history
- Assisting the providers with patient care and performing procedures as ordered (i.e. – Phlebotomy, specimen collection, splints, patient positioning for procedures)
- Administering, ordering, and documenting medications
- Obtaining lab samples using safe standard procedures and accurately documenting completion of procedure.
- Performing IV insertions and fluid management
- Participating and attending mandatory meetings and training sessions.
LEADERSHIP:
- Monitor and facilitate patient flow through the clinical area.
- Identify and assume care of high risk/high acuity patients.
- Serve as a resource to PCTs for patient care questions and concerns.
- Ensure daily tasks and checklists are completed.
Required Education/Experience:
- Graduate from an approved nursing program
- Valid state license to practice nursing in the state of Virginia
- Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (preferred)
- One year nursing experience in pediatrics (preferred)
- Emergency/Urgent Care experience (preferred)
