Direct Credit Overview
The Direct Credit Team is comprised of 25 investment professionals spanning Europe and North America. The Team has a 20-year track record of investing in private credit across senior and opportunistic strategies, deploying $10.9Bn into direct credit transactions over that time period. The European Team is headquartered in London and covers credit opportunities across Europe.
Role Overview:
We are looking for an investment professional to join a growing European Direct Credit Team. The role offers an exciting opportunity to join a global firm and work across the credit risk spectrum, gaining exposure to a broad range of financing opportunities. The successful candidate will combine strong technical skills with fundamental credit underwriting and exhibit a commercial and collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the team in drafting of credit investment memos, demonstrating the ability to assess business models, historical and projected financial performance, industry dynamics, competitive position, capital structure and sponsor considerations
- Build and own financial models to assess downside protection, leverage capacity, liquidity, sensitivity cases and expected investment returns
- Perform rigorous fundamental credit analysis to identify key risks, mitigants and value drivers
- Participate in the end-to-end diligence process by reviewing third-party due diligence, preparing diligence Q&A lists, and participating in expert and reference calls
- Synthesize key findings into an underwriting thesis
- Evaluate opportunities across a broad range of credit situations, with exposure to different positions in the capital structure and an emphasis on risk-reward mindset
- Co-ordinate transaction execution by collaborating with internal workstreams (e.g. legal, tax, funding team)
- Track European deal flow, pipeline and investment track record
- Assist in monitoring existing portfolio companies by reviewing quarterly financials, writing performance updates, and reviewing valuation reports
Skills Required
- Approximately 3+ years of relevant experience in leveraged finance, private credit or a related investing environment
- Strong fundamental credit analysis skills, with the demonstrated ability to assess business quality, cash flows, downside scenarios and capital structure analysis
- Advanced financial modelling capability, including integrated three-statement modelling
- Experience of working on sponsor-backed financing transactions
- Intellectual curiosity and ability to think critically about investment thesis, key risks and structuring considerations
- Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to distil complex analysis into clear recommendations to senior stakeholders
- High level of ownership, strong work ethic and ability to collaborate effectively in a team
- Strong academic credentials
- Additional European language skills are welcomed but not required
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
