Job Description
Role purpose:
The Operations Manager is responsible for the end-to-end operational performance of the site, ensuring effective financial control, operational efficiency, compliance, staff welfare and delivery of business objectives. The role oversees multiple operational departments including System Configuration, Warehousing, Dispatch, New Product Production and Facilities.
It is on-site job, with expected daily presence in EMS office/site in Herne Bay, UK.
Key responsibilities:
Review factory forecast & alignment with sales forecast.
Management of the site’s budget and expenses.
Review and sign off in writing all purchase invoices for payment.
Responsibility for new production & new production team.
Productivity improvements actions & report review.
Arranging staff general training, First Aid, Fire Warden etc.
Responsibility for the system configuration team and their activities.
Supplier forecasts (incl. KGS manufacturing requirements), general stock control.
Responsibility for the warehousing processes & team.
Responsibility for dispatch of the products / Dispatch team.
Facility maintenance responsibilities (media, site contractors, etc.).
Key requirements:
Degree or relevant experience in Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain or similar.
Experience in a site-based Operations Manager / Operations Supervisor role within a manufacturing or technical environment.
Hands-on experience with daily operations, purchasing approvals, inventory control and basic cost management.
Working knowledge of ERP systems for orders, stock, BOMs and master data.
Experience managing small to medium-sized operational teams across multiple functions.
Understanding of production planning, warehousing, dispatch and basic import/export processes.
Organised, detail-oriented and accountable, with a practical and proactive approach.
Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
