Job Description
We are looking for a Commercial Legal Counsel. This role is focused on leading contract negotiations and managing external partner communication, ensuring agreements are efficiently closed while protecting the company’s interests.
You will act as the primary legal representative in partner discussions, driving negotiations, maintaining high communication standards, and balancing legal risk with business needs.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys negotiation, ownership, and deal-making, and prefers being directly involved in closing agreements rather than only drafting documents.
Role Responsibilities
Contract Negotiation & External Communication
Lead contract negotiations with external partners and vendors from initial discussion to final execution.
Represent the company in partner communications, ensuring a professional, structured, and responsive negotiation process.
Drive discussions on commercial terms, legal clauses, and risk allocation.
Maintain strong follow-up discipline and proactively move negotiations forward.
Confidently defend the company’s interests while maintaining a constructive and professional tone.
Deal Ownership & Execution
Take full ownership of agreements and ensure timely closure.
Identify risks, propose solutions, and align stakeholders to reach final decisions.
Structure agreements in a pragmatic, business-friendly way.
Act as a decision-maker in negotiations, not just a supporting function.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with product, finance, and operations teams to align legal and business objectives.
Partner with the existing legal team member (focused on drafting and research).
Review drafts, define negotiation positions, and lead discussions with partners.
Over time, take ownership of the legal function, with the current lawyer as a direct report.
Legal Advisory
Provide practical legal guidance on digital business and partnership structures.
Support deal structuring across different jurisdictions.
Ensure consistency in negotiation approach and legal standards.
Process & Negotiation Excellence
Improve internal legal workflows and negotiation practices.
Elevate the quality of partner-facing legal communication and overall service level.
Establish structured approaches to negotiation, follow-ups, and deal tracking.
Required Qualifications
Strong experience in commercial law, preferably in digital / tech / product companies.
Proven track record of leading contract negotiations end-to-end.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in external-facing roles.
Fluent English (written and spoken) with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently.
Ability to drive negotiations forward and close agreements, not just support them.
Pragmatic mindset with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives.
Comfortable working in an international, cross-border environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in gaming, fintech, SaaS, or digital platforms
Background in litigation or dispute resolution
Experience with international contracts and cross-border negotiations
Legal qualification (bar admission is a plus, but not required)
Experience managing complex, long-running negotiations
