Role Responsibilities
Responsible for managing and optimizing Western Union’s Account Payment Network (APN) partnerships across Latin America and Caribbean (LACA), ensuring strong governance, operational excellence, and continuous growth through strategic collaborations with banks, wallets, card providers, and other payment partners.
Manage a portfolio of APN partners end-to-end, including banks, digital wallets, card providers, and payment networks across the LACA region.
Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners and internal stakeholders to support business objectives and product strategy.
Execute APN governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with business goals, regulatory requirements, and operational standards.
Conduct regular service reviews, monitoring Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to drive performance and accountability.
Identify, escalate, and track partner performance issues through to resolution, ensuring compliance with Western Union standards.
Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities, including growth initiatives, partnership expansion, and revenue-generating activities.
Collaborate with Product, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Technology teams to support product development and optimize payment capabilities.
Evaluate and onboard new payout partners, correspondent banks, and payment networks to enhance network coverage, reliability, and resilience.
Support regional product teams by aligning partner capabilities with future payment needs and customer requirements.
Monitor global payment trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies (e.g., wallets, payment schemes, stablecoins) to inform strategic decisions.
Contribute to product strategy by identifying enhancements, new capabilities, and opportunities to improve customer experience.
Lead incident management and escalation processes, ensuring timely resolution and continuous improvement of network performance.
Ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance by maintaining documentation, governance processes, and contractual alignment.
Review and manage contractual agreements in partnership with Legal and Compliance teams, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
Support the definition and execution of regional receive/pay-out strategies in collaboration with APN Strategy and regional leadership.
Role Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA or similar) preferred.
7–10 years of experience in partnership management, preferably within financial services or payments.
Proven experience managing strategic partnerships and commercial relationships.
Strong understanding of the payments ecosystem, including banks, wallets, card networks, and alternative payment methods.
Experience in governance frameworks, SLA management, and performance tracking (KPIs/OKRs).
Demonstrated ability to identify growth opportunities and drive business development initiatives.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
Experience working with Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams in regulated environments.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Fluency in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
