CAREER AND WORKFORCE READINESS COORDINATOR (K-12)

Job Summary

The District is seeking a dynamic, innovative and student-centered educator to serve as its Career and Workforce Readiness Coordinator.  This position is part of the District's professional employee bargaining unit and will provide leadership in the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of a comprehensive K-12 Career and Workforce Readiness Program that prepares all students for postsecondary education, workforce entry, military service and career success.

The successful candidate will collaborate with students, staff, families, postsecondary institutions, business and industry partners and community organizations to ensure students graduate with meaningful career awareness, exploration, preparation and work-based learning experiences.

Primary Responsibilities

The Career and Workforce Readiness Coordinator shall:

Program Development and Coordination

  • Lead the implementation of a comprehensive K-12 Career and Workforce Readiness Program.
  • Coordinate district initiatives related to career awareness, career exploration, career preparation and career engagement.
  • Support the integration of career readiness competencies across grade levels and content areas.
  • Assist with implementation of Pennsylvania Career Education and Work Standards.

Student Career Development

  • Coordinate career exploration opportunities for students in grades K-12.
  • Assist students in identifying career interests, aptitudes and postsecondary goals.
  • Support students in developing career portfolios, career plans and workforce readiness skills.
  • Coordinate career fairs, college fairs, industry visits and career awareness activities.
  • Facilitate student participation in workforce development programs and career experiences.

Work-Based Learning

  • Develop and oversee internships, job shadowing experiences, apprenticeships, cooperative education opportunities and other work-based learning experiences.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local employers and industry partners.
  • Coordinate placement, documentation, supervision and evaluation of work-based learning experiences.
  • Ensure compliance with district policies, labor regulations and student safety requirements.

Postsecondary and Community Partnerships

  • Serve as district liaison with businesses, workforce development agencies, community organizations, trade associations, military recruiters, apprenticeship programs, career and technical centers, college and universities.
  • Develop partnerships that expand opportunities for students.
  • Coordinate employer engagement activities and career mentoring opportunities.

Chapter 339 and Career Readiness Compliance

  • Support district compliance with Pennsylvania Chapter 339 requirements.
  • Assist with career assessment, planning and documentation activities.
  • Coordinate collection and maintenance of career readiness data and evidence.
  • Prepare reports and documentation required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and district administration.

Professional Development and Collaboration

  • Provide professional development and support to teachers regarding career readiness integration.
  • Collaborate with school counselors, special education staff, administrators and teachers to support student transitions.
  • Participate in district committees and initiatives related to college, career and workforce readiness.

Data Collection and Program Evaluation

  • Collect, analyze and report program outcomes and student participation data.
  • Monitor effectiveness of career readiness initiatives.
  • Recommend improvements based on student outcomes, workforce trends and stakeholder feedback.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Superintendent

Qualifications

  • Valid Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate.
  • Minimum five (5) years successful teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Pennsylvania Career Education and Work (CEW) Standards.
  • Experience working with secondary students and career planning initiatives.
  • Strong organizational, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to establish partnerships with businesses, community organizations and postsecondary institutions.
  • Career and Technical Education experience preferred.
  • School counseling, transition planning or workforce development experience preferred.
  • Experience coordinating internships, apprenticeships, job shadowing or work-based learning programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of Pennsylvania Chapter 339 requirements preferred.
  • Experience with career readiness platforms and workforce development programs preferred.
  • Master's Degree in Education, Counseling, Leadership, Workforce Development or related field preferred.
