Description:

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • The Peer Support Specialist provides recovery-oriented support to individuals impacted by substance use disorder by drawing on lived experience and specialized training. This position promotes hope, engagement, and self-directed recovery while supporting participants in accessing services, entering treatment, and building long-term stability. The Peer Support Specialist will operate within a recovery-oriented system of care and supports the health departments and The Hub of Floyd County’s overdose prevention, treatment linkage, and harm reduction priorities.


    In addition, the Peer Support Specialist will also support the implementation and management of harm reduction services, including Syringe Services Programs (SSP), and provide navigation services to ensure linkage to HIV and viral hepatitis prevention, testing, treatment, and care services. Key Responsibilities will be detailed in the job description attached.

    The employee is to follow safe bending and lifting practices. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

    The employee is expected to perform the agreed duties within the time frame allocated.

    Supplies shall not be used unnecessarily.

    Employee is to notify supervisor or director on any issues related to their ability to fulfill work duties.

Minimum Education, Training or Experience: 

  • HS or GED
  •  Peer Support Specialist Certification with two (2) years in active recovery (this job does require a drug screening)

Additional Requirements:

 This position requires a clean drug screen prior to and randomly throughout.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Background checks conducted prior to hire.

Starting Salary:  $15.00/hr
