Job Description
GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Scheduler I. for Call Center Environment.
Office hours: Mon - Thursday 8am - 5pm / Friday- 8am - 4pm / (No Weekends)
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

- Answer a high volume of incoming calls in a courteous and timely manner, triage appropriately, and direct to correct staff or department
- Answers telephone as calls are forwarded, screen calls, takes messages and provides general business information as it applies to the schedule.
- Schedule office appointments, consultations, and procedures through direct communication with patients, hospitals, and referring providers
- Schedule and coordinate all follow-up appointments and cancellations for multiple locations.
- Coordinate appointments based on physician schedules and clinic availability, including rescheduling due to cancellations or time constraints
- Collect, input, and verify patient demographic and insurance information
- Maintain accurate data entry and proper indexing of patient records while observing HIPAA guidelines
- Take triage call messages for medical staff and route task.
- View patients visit notes, identifying problems & diagnosis listed and physician orders
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills:
- Previous scheduling experience in a health care environment is required (e.g., physician office, clinic)
- Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical diagnostic procedures, and health care required
- Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented 9. Must be highly skilled in verbal communication, problem solving, prioritization and organization
- Knowledge of HIPAA/Confidentiality
- Experience with multi-line phone systems – Preferred
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills - Required
- 3/4 years Medical office experience - Required
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills are required
- Experience working in a medical office
- Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented
- Basic understanding of healthcare plans
- Be able to read and understand medical benefits.
- Bilingual is a plus.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: 2-5 years of prior medical scheduling is preferred
Requirements for Level II Status:
- Intermediate experience (4+ years’ experience) and/or acting more independently,
- Takes on some additional duties to assist the office.
- Strong and consistent performer.
Performance Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient technical (computer) skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Self-motivated with initiative.
- Strong sense of ethics.
