Senior Software Engineer - Digital Compliance
Job Description
Job Description
Want to build the digital play experiences that bring LEGO products to life?
This role ensures that compliance becomes a first-class engineering capability rather than a recurring fire drill. By building infrastructure that makes compliance verifiable and automated, you'll give the team the headroom to focus on creating lasting play experiences, while giving parents and regulators confidence that we're protecting children by design. Your work will directly support the broader organization's commitment to responsible innovation and child wellbeing.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable compliance infrastructure across our app ecosystem, using SRE principles to transform ad-hoc regulatory fixes into verifiable, automated compliance defaults.
Keep our legacy Unity applications compliant with existing and upcoming consumer laws and regulations to ensure digital child safety.
Work closely with the Digital Product Safety team to translate new regulatory requirements into technical specifications, implementation roadmaps, and automated enforcement mechanisms.
Collaborate with our Quality Assurance and Consumer Service departments to ensure compliance with internal quality standards and consumer policies.
Mentor engineering team members on compliance patterns, defensive engineering practices, and how to embed SRE principles into everyday development.
Ensure high standards in code quality, processes, automation, and testing across all compliance-related systems and infrastructure.
Requirements
Hands-on production experience with Unity or a similar cross-platform mobile app framework (Flutter, React Native, KMP, etc.).
Demonstrated application of SRE principles — automation, infrastructure as code, observability, and reliability engineering — to solve complex technical challenges.
Experience building automated compliance, safety, or quality systems that scale across multiple products or markets.
Able to read and reason about complex regulatory or legal frameworks alongside domain experts, and turn them into actionable engineering work.
Comfortable working across legal, product safety, QA, and engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Proven ability to refactor and modernize legacy systems while maintaining stability and backwards compatibility.
Significant software engineering experience, with at least 2 years focused on compliance, safety, or platform reliability.
Nice to have
Experience in games, children's digital products, or other highly regulated consumer-facing platforms.
Knowledge of digital child safety regulations such as COPPA, GDPR-K, or regional equivalents.
Hands-on experience working with Bluetooth peripherals or IoT devices.
Native iOS and/or Android development experience.
Comfortable presenting technical topics to non-technical stakeholders, including legal and policy teams.
Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis. However, please note we do amend or withdraw our jobs and reserve the right to do so at any time, including prior to any advertised closing date. So, if you're interested in this role we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
