We are seeking a Material Handler 1 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business Unit. As part of (SES) Strategic Business Unit you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates and maintains electronic security services inclusive of intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, it systems, perimeter defense and command and control systems for federal, local and commercial customers across high-growth markets.
Responsibilities
The Material Handler 1 handles materials that are delivered to our Columbus office and need to be received, organized, and distributed to the appropriate sites. This person must be able to operate a pallet jack and should also be familiar with, or able to be trained on, POL to receive and note deliveries. We are currently seeing roughly 8-15 deliveries per week.
- Receives, handles and organizes material in warehouse, storage and lab areas.
- Enters and records information for received materials including description, quantities, projects and purchase codes in a material receiving system.
- Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory, and reporting shortages.
- Follows and maintains inventory process to open, inspect, sort, catalog and relocate materials and supplies
- Locates materials and supplies by using the material inventory system
- Locates and packs materials for shipping.
- Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.
- Documents product shipment by recording units shipped.
- Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery to move items, or signals machine operators to move materials onto and off trucks, ships, and loading docks.
- Keeps inventory, loading areas, and machinery clean.
- Supports and works alongside warehouse, logistics, procurement, project management and engineering teams
- Assist project teams with material unboxing/boxing, setup, labeling and inspection for defects
- Learns and adheres to workplace safety regulations.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- 2+ years of demonstrated experience with a High School Diploma or
- 1+ years with an Associate’s Degrees
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of inventory control
- Ability to lift heavy material
- Ability to read and analyze Information
- Data entry skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team and resolve practical problems.
- Process improvement mindset
- Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in person, via telephone and in writing.

Abilities:
- The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
- Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
- Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
- Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
- Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
- May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
- Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
- Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
- Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
- See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
- Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Pay Range
USD $18.00 - USD $25.00 /Hr.
