POSITION SUMMARY 

Responsible for promoting the Delcath HEPZATO KIT product line through the education of current and potential customers, providing them with clinical education and technical product and procedure support. The CS will be responsible for supporting the Delcath sales team as needed, and the marketing team at meetings, conventions and trade shows, as requested. This position will encompass case coverage, follow-up, support, troubleshooting, customer service and education for the HEPZATO KIT products. In addition the CS will support the activities of the third party field based Medical Science Liaison team, where appropriate. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for educating and supporting physicians and other hospital personnel on technical matters relating to the correct use of the Delcath HEPZATO KIT System and all aspects of Hepzato.
  • Responsible for promoting Hepzato as a technique and HEPZATO KIT as the means of delivering a minimally invasive regional therapy to cancer patients. 
  • Responsible for maintaining current knowledge about assigned products and services, as well as complementary therapies and competitive products or disease treatments.
  • Responsible for educating local sales and marketing colleagues on product use and its place in oncology centers.
  • Responsible for interfacing directly with the field sales organization and Marketing support to ensure that ongoing development requirements are addressed to meet demands of customers.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining relevant segments of the database for all customers in the assigned region.
  • Will work closely with Sales as it relates to the establishment of clinical sites.


Specific Duties:

Provides training and technical support to all HEPZATO KIT users, achieved by coordinating one-on-one or team sessions, in-service education programs, seminars and/or outside symposia.

  • Monitors replenishment at clinical sites to ensure product availability for all patient sessions.
  • Educates colleagues and customers on the clinical benefits of HEPZATO KIT and the process of Hepzato.
  • Illustrates clinical differences and patient outcomes between HEPZATO KIT and alternative therapies. 
  • Prepares, proposes and implements presentations for customers to ensure awareness of the HEPZATO KIT System.
  • Maintains current knowledge about oncology products and services, complementary therapies and competitive products or disease treatments – uses this knowledge to inform Delcath colleagues throughout the organization.
  • Works directly with Marketing and Sales to ensure products are supported effectively through technical knowledge and a sales support focus. 
  • Investigates and identifies competitor activities and pricing in the field, communicating this to Marketing and Sales.
  • Provides weekly reports on out of office activities including field based training, customer visits and service related issues. 
  • Represents Delcath at medical congresses, exhibitions, marketing and customer events.
  • Provides marketing and sales with competitive information, procedure volumes and trends obtained during customer site visits.
  • Works with local supplier of perfusion pumps to ensure customer satisfaction with performance and reports back any failures to line management.
  • When requested, provides technical support to the third party Medical Science Liaison team.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Clinical Specialist does not have any direct reports.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of three (3) years clinical specialist experience in the Medical Oncology or interventional device field.
  • Effective teaching skills.
  • Ability to construct training programs, analyze them and recommend updates.
  • Prior experience with Surgical Oncology, Interventional Oncology and sales experience a plus.
  • Prior experience training in a new medical product area a plus.
  • Preferred experience in the oncology/cancer market segment.
  • Must be able to design and implement training plans that are supportive of long term strategic plans.
  • Experienced in working across multiple clinical levels, functions and regions.
  • Demonstrated people and organizational skills.
  • Must be computer literate in MS Office suite, other IT skills a plus.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Extensive travel will be required (85% +), may include weekends 
  • Educational degree (BS) in a life sciences or healthcare discipline (or equivalent).
  • Educational degree (MBA or equivalent) in management/business/marketing/healthcare a plus.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical journals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with employees and outside organization.

The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms; and is subject to repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
