Job Description

Role Purpose 

As Global Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving the commercial growth and market adoption of Maersk’s Cargo Risk Management portfolio — Value Protect, Container Protect, and Cargo Insurance. Out of the three products the focus will be Cargo Insurance hence the underwriting or marine cargo experience is required. 

 
This role combines commercial enablement, stakeholder engagement, and market development to ensure our products are well-positioned, understood, and adopted by both internal and external stakeholders. 

You will work closely supporting the CRM Global Product Managers, Area Product, Sales and CX and Marketing teams to translate product value into customer impact, strengthen customer relationships, and deliver revenue growth. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Commercial Growth & Strategy 

  • Develop and execute business development initiatives to increase adoption and revenue of Value Protect, Container Protect, and Cargo Insurance. 

  • Support area sales teams with tailored go-to-market strategies and enablement materials. 

  • Identify and pursue new commercial opportunities, partnerships, and market segments to increase product penetration. 

  • Provide input into product positioning and pricing strategies based on market insights and customer feedback. 

Sales Enablement & Training 

  • Design and deliver training programs, toolkits, and playbooks to enable Sales and CX teams to effectively position and sell CRM products. 

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for CRM solutions, supporting Sales in customer engagements and contract negotiations and CX in cross-selling and upselling.  

  • Create clear, compelling content that translates complex product features into customer value. 

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Drive customer-facing initiatives, presentations, and campaigns to increase awareness and adoption. 

  • Engage cross-functionally with Product, Ocean, and Finance teams to ensure alignment and execution. 

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to champion CRM products across Maersk. 

Marketing & Communications 

  • Lead the creation of promotional content, case studies, and product collateral for CRM products. 

  • Collaborate with local and global Marketing teams to design campaigns and events that increase visibility and impact. 

  • Develop internal communications to increase awareness and knowledge of CRM offerings across Maersk. 

Performance & Market Insights 

  • Monitor performance metrics and market trends, providing insights and recommendations to CRM product managers. 

  • Conduct competitor analysis to ensure Maersk maintains a differentiated market position. 

 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • 5-7 years experience in Marine Cargo Insurance preferably as underwriting from global insurance brokers or insurance companies is a must. 

  • Proven experience as a product manager, business development, commercial enablement, in a global organization. 

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage at multiple organizational levels. 

  • Experience in training, marketing communications, or customer engagement. 

  • Commercially minded with the ability to balance customer needs and business priorities. 

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven. 

  • Experience in logistics, insurance, or risk management. 

 

Key Success Measures 

  • Growth in revenue and adoption of CRM products (Value Protect, Container Protect, Cargo Insurance). 

  • Increased sales team capability and confidence in positioning CRM solutions. 

  • Positive feedback from customers and internal stakeholders. 

  • Strong visibility of CRM products across the business.
