JOB PURPOSE
The Sanitation Supervisor (First Shift, Saturday -Wednesday) is responsible for leading all sanitation activities across the site to ensure compliance with Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), food safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This role oversees a team of hourly sanitation employees and ensures effective execution of cleaning and sanitization processes to support safe product manufacturing and timely return to service.
The position partners cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and external vendors to maintain sanitation excellence, minimize risk, and drive continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sanitation & Food Safety Compliance
• Lead execution of the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) to ensure full compliance with internal standards, GMPs, and regulatory requirements
• Ensure all cleaning activities meet food safety expectations, preventing contamination risks across equipment and environment
• Oversee CIP (Clean-in-Place) and COP (Clean-out-of-Place) processes to ensure proper sanitation of all product contact surfaces
• Drive adherence to chemical handling, PPE usage, and safety protocols
Operations & Execution
• Manage sanitation operations for assigned shift (Saturday–Wednesday schedule) to ensure production readiness
• Own Return-to-Service (RTS) validation and release processes post-sanitation
• Ensure timely and effective completion of sanitation tasks to support production schedules
• Monitor sanitation effectiveness through inspections, audits, and verification programs
People Leadership
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 13 hourly sanitation employees
• Ensure proper staffing, training, and performance management to meet operational needs
• Build capability through skills development, cross-training, and adherence to sanitation procedures
• Drive engagement and accountability across the sanitation team
Vendor & Chemical Management
• Manage relationships with sanitation chemical vendors to ensure supply continuity and optimization
• Oversee chemical inventory, usage, and deliveries to support operational needs
• Ensure chemicals are used, stored, and handled in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements
Performance & Continuous Improvement
• Track and report sanitation KPIs, including:
o MSS compliance
o Labor efficiency (hours/task)
o Return-to-service performance
o Audit and inspection results
• Identify gaps and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
• Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sanitation efficiency, effectiveness, and cost performance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with Quality, Operations, and Engineering teams to drive sanitation-related improvements
• Support audits, inspections, and regulatory requirements (internal and external)
• Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for sanitation-related deviations or incidents
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• High School Diploma. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
• 2+ years of sanitation experience within a food manufacturing or regulated production environment, with direct involvement in cleaning and food safety programs
- Proven leadership experience (1+ years) supervising hourly sanitation teams, including coaching, performance management, and accountability in a union or high-volume setting
- Hands-on expertise with sanitation systems and processes, including Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), CIP/COP, and return-to-service validation requirements
Demonstrated experience working within GMP, HACCP, and food safety regulatory frameworks, with a strong understanding of contamination prevention and audit readiness
- Experience partnering cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve sanitation-related issues, support production readiness, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Pay: The pay range for this position is $71,400 to $107,200. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
