POSITION SPECIFICS
The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Penn State College of Medicine (COM) and Penn State Health (PSH) is recruiting for an open position for a Ph.D. scientist at the level of professor with a strong research focus. This position is tenure eligible based on candidate qualifications and accomplishments.
The faculty member will be expected to direct a highly competitive and innovative research program that focuses broadly on addressing receptor tyrosine kinase signaling and its role in health and disease. The responsibilities will include coordinating translational research initiatives across the college and the department, via a role as a faculty member in Radiation Oncology, Molecular and Precision Medicine (secondary) and as the Associate Director of CRTEC. There is also an expectation of involvement in mentoring graduate students, postdoctoral and medical students, teaching, and outreach.
Program growth and recruitment around collaborations is an important priority for the COM, and the successful candidate is expected to actively identify opportunities for collaborative research, bringing together departmental faculty with colleagues from other programs/academic units and/or institutions.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must possess a PhD, or equivalent degree from an accredited institution, and have an academic record meriting appointment at the rank of Professor at Penn State University College of Medicine. Tenure eligibility will be dependent on credentials and accomplishments. Additional qualifications:
- Track record of successfully building an innovative basic science research program.
- Demonstrated ability to secure extramural support.
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with physicians and scientists.
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
