At the Edmonton Net Zero Hydrogen and Energy Complex (ENZHEC), you'll do more than operate equipment—you’ll help drive the future of sustainable energy production. Working in a state-of-the-art facility that integrates hydrogen production, hydrogen liquefaction, carbon capture, power generation, and air separation technologies, you'll play a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations around the clock.

Whether you're monitoring complex processes, troubleshooting critical systems, supporting maintenance activities, or progressing into leadership responsibilities, this role offers a dynamic career path for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced industrial environment and are passionate about operational excellence, safety, and innovation.
Production Technicians work on one of four ten-person shift teams and are assigned to one of nine positions within the plant. Technicians will be cross-trained to perform work in multiple positions.
Shifts are 12 hours long, and work schedules may include up to seven consecutive shifts, covering both day and night rotations.

Key Responsibilities
Maintain proper documentation for all safety-related activities
Report all safety and environmental incidents, including near misses
Perform routine field checks on processes and equipment according to established procedures
Support maintenance activities and coordinate corrective actions to optimize plant reliability
Participate in investigations and root cause analyses to identify and implement sustainable solutions
Promote operational excellence through productivity, reliability, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives
Follow lockout/tagout procedures and issue safe work permits
Accurately complete plant logs and proactively identify improvement opportunities
Communicate plant status to operators and shift supervisors, providing input on operational solutions
Take immediate action in response to abnormal or emergency situations to ensure plant integrity and personnel safety
Assist in training and competency assessment of junior and trainee technicians
Physical Requirements
Ability to climb ladders and stairs
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
Ability to work at elevated heights
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Third Class Power Engineer Certificate
Experience Requirements
Experience working in refining or petrochemical facilities
Experience with plant commissioning and process troubleshooting (preferred)
Senior-level technicians must have experience operating distributed control systems (DCS) and hold a Second or Third Class Power Engineer Certificate
Experience with the following is considered an asset:
Air Separation Units
Autothermal Reforming, Steam Methane Reforming, or Partial Oxidation Gasification
Amine systems
Gas turbines and steam generators
Large centrifugal or reciprocating compressors
Job-Specific Skills
Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement
Mechanical, instrumentation, and/or electrical proficiency
Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and on-call rotations
Ability to work independently as a self-starter
Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office
