Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $78,720 to $88,560. Compensation may vary based on experience.
Job Summary:
The Retail Manager is responsible for the retail operations at Meow Wolf Los Angeles. Major duties include managing all retail staff and the on-site warehouse department, as well as department budget management and improvement to retail operations, policies, and procedures. Reporting to the General Manager, the Retail Manager ensures profitability of retail operations by effectively managing all business aspects of retail, such as: inventory, managing staffing, creating budgets, and setting goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Hire and train staff to provide a memorable and uniquely Meow Wolf level of service to guests
Directly supervising retail leads, gift shop staff, and warehouse staff
Executing store inventories and cycle counts
Managing the retail department budget
Managing the retail on-site warehouse department
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
Initiate, encourage, and maintain internal and cross-departmental communication
Models and enforces proper cash management protocols by delivering POS training to staff and following company policies for cash handling and cash room compliance
Assures the store is properly stocked and visually merchandised as required
Directly support all site initiatives including, but not limited to, the role-playing element required of all staff members when interacting with guests
Fulfill all manager on duty duties, skills, and knowledge, including the ability to perform any role within the retail department
Work with the Scheduling Manager to ensure work centers are staffed efficiently and effectively
Providing feedback and reviews for all retail staff; maintaining high quality staff performance
Analyze customer feedback and suggest ways to improve product lines
Actively listen to and resolve complaints
Set and maintain high standards of organization and cleanliness throughout the gift shop
Respond to injuries and emergencies appropriately
Managing, reviewing, and signing off on payroll for all hourly employees
Making projections for hiring needs and completing hiring procedures
With Human Resources, recommending and developing retail staff training
Recommending, creating, and communicating policies and procedures
Maintaining knowledge of events, special programs and projects and communicating them to the staff
Tracking fluctuations in visitation numbers and adjusting staffing levels accordingly
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years management experience in retail, exhibit, attraction, museum, or other public space/entertainment/operations environment
Proven work experience as a Retail Manager or similar role
Prior experience with visual merchandising
Hands-on experience with point-of-sale systems
Proven experience developing, managing and achieving budgets
Strong service skills and welcoming demeanor required
Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays
Experience training staff and identifying training needs
Adult + Child + Infant CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred
Bilingual, especially but not limited to English and Spanish preferred
Excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills
Ability to lead and manage staff
Good judgment in difficult and complicated management situations
Ability to maintain an appropriate, dispassionate demeanor in emergencies, difficult customer interactions, and interactions with personnel
Ability to follow and enforce safety rules
Adaptable to changes in a fast-paced work environment
Work Environment and Physical Demands

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and scanners. This position also works in an indoor setting with exposure to noisy environments, dim lighting, strong visual effects including strobing lights, special effects, fog machines and small and/ or enclosed spaces.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical ability to walk, stand, take stairs/slides/elevators, and navigate the elements during the day and night. Employee may be required to remain in a sitting or standing position for prolonged periods, and repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
