Radiologic Technologist
About the Role
The Radiologic Technologist operates X‑ray equipment to produce high‑quality diagnostic images under the supervision of a Radiologist. This role supports safe, accurate imaging and excellent patient care within the Radiology/Imaging Services department.
What You'll Do
- Operate X‑ray equipment and adjust settings for accurate imaging.
- Position patients and equipment to capture clear, undistorted radiographs.
- Use proper film/detector size and maintain visibility of collimation.
- Perform portable radiographic procedures when needed.
- Wear appropriate protective equipment and follow infection control policies.
- Keep work areas clean and organized.
- Assist with basic first aid and routine documentation.
- Maintain composure in crises and respond appropriately.
- Follow safety procedures, complete assigned inspections, and uphold confidentiality.
- Provide age‑appropriate care to all patient groups.
- Attend required annual education and support departmental needs.
Education & Requirements
- Completion of an AMA‑approved Radiologic Technology program.
- Eligible for NYS Radiologic Technologist licensure.
- Current BLS required.
Experience
- Hospital experience preferred.
Physical & Mental Demands
- Intermittent standing, walking, and sitting.
- Ability to work in stressful or fast‑paced situations.
Exposure Category
Category II: No routine exposure to blood/body fluids; may perform occasional Category I tasks.
