The Surgical Technician II is responsible for creating and maintaining the sterile field while serving as a vital member of the surgical team. Using advanced knowledge of operative procedures, instrumentation, anatomy, and surgeon preferences, this role anticipates surgeon needs and helps ensure safe, efficient patient care throughout the surgical experience.
Working closely with surgeons, nurses, and other perioperative team members, the Surgical Technician II supports patients during the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of care. This role also serves as a preceptor, helping to develop and support fellow team members.
Education & Certification
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current BLS Certification (renewed every two years or as required by UVMMC).
- Graduate of a civilian, military, or hospital-based Surgical Technician program.
- Eligible to obtain national certification through the CST or TS-C pathway.
Experience
- Minimum of two years of successful experience as a Surgical Technician required.
