The Assistant Sanitation Manager supports the oversight and execution of sanitation programs within a high-volume food production and distribution facility. This role ensures compliance with food safety regulations, maintains a clean and safe work environment, and drives continuous improvement in sanitation processes to support FreshDirect’s operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

 

The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer.  This is Aramark’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support daily sanitation operations across production, warehouse, and distribution areas in a fast-paced food environment
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, OSHA, HACCP, GMP, and SQF standards
  • Assist in developing and executing Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS)
  • Supervise and coordinate sanitation team members, including scheduling, training, and performance managementConduct routine inspections and audits, documenting findings and driving corrective actionsMaintain audit readiness for internal, regulatory, and third-party inspections
  • Partner with Quality Assurance, Operations, and Maintenance teams to ensure alignment on sanitation and food safety standards
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on efficiency, process optimization, and waste reduction
  • Manage sanitation chemical programs, ensuring proper usage, storage, and compliance with safety standardsMonitor inventory levels of sanitation supplies, chemicals, and PPEAssist with budget tracking and cost control, including labor and supply expenses
  • Lead and reinforce food safety and sanitation training programs for frontline employeesPromote a strong safety culture, ensuring adherence to PPE, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and workplace safety procedures
  • Support equipment cleaning schedules and preventive maintenance coordination
  • Shift: 10pm-6:30am

Qualifications

  • 2–5+ years of experience in sanitation, food manufacturing, food distribution, or warehouse operations
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP, SSOP, FDA/USDA standards)
  • Experience in high-volume production or distribution environments (e.g., fresh food, e-commerce, grocery fulfillment)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Operations, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with chemical safety programs and sanitation equipment
  • Experience supporting audits, inspections, and compliance initiatives
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with a hands-on management approach
  • Basic financial and inventory management experience
