Job Description

WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS:

At BHC, strategy is not an annual exercise. It is the discipline of deciding what matters most, committing resources accordingly, and ensuring that great ideas become meaningful outcomes.

The Director of Strategy exists to help turn ambition into outcomes. This role ensures that our most important priorities become executable plans, that our investments contribute to something lasting, and that the work shaping the future of BHC continues moving forward.

When priorities compete or projects stall, you are the person who helps leaders find alignment and momentum. You bring clarity when the path forward is uncertain, discipline to decision-making, and accountability to results.

You are not a consultant brought in to study the business. You are part of the team responsible for building it.

THE ROLE:

BHC is building a portfolio that spans hospitality, culture, real estate, and community impact. The opportunities are significant. So is the complexity.

The Director of Strategy serves as a trusted partner to senior leadership, helping align priorities, resources, and leadership around the opportunities that matter most.

Some projects may involve launching a new venture. Others may require redesigning a process, evaluating an investment, helping leaders align around a major decision, or building the plan for a new business.

The common thread is this: when something matters enough to shape the future of BHC, you help create the path from idea to execution.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Turn Vision into Action

  • Partner with executive leadership to translate priorities into clear plans, milestones, and measurable outcomes.

  • Ensure that major projects move from concept to execution with momentum and accountability.

  • Lead Strategic Initiatives.

  • Drive high-impact initiatives that span multiple departments, properties, or projects.

  • Help teams with competing priorities align around a common path forward.

  • Anticipate obstacles before they become delays and develop solutions that keep projects moving.

  • Build trust and credibility across the organization, bringing people together around important decisions and shared outcomes.

Bring Rigor to Decision Making

  • Conduct analysis, research, and business evaluations that inform significant organizational decisions.

  • Assess opportunities, investments, partnerships, and operational initiatives through both strategic and financial lenses.

  • Bring clarity to complex decisions, helping leaders identify what matters most and move forward with confidence.

Create Clarity and Accountability

  • Develop and maintain plans that keep priority initiatives moving forward.

  • Establish mechanisms for tracking progress, surfacing risks, and ensuring accountability.

  • Create visibility around what matters most, allowing leaders to focus their attention where it creates the greatest impact.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

What We're Looking For

Structured Thinker. Practical Operator.

  • You are comfortable moving between long-term vision and immediate action.

  • You can discuss where the organization needs to be three years from now and spend the afternoon solving a problem that is preventing progress today.

  • You do not view implementation as someone else's responsibility.

  • You understand that plans alone do not create progress. Consistent action does.

  • You bring discipline to execution, clarity to priorities, and a steady focus on outcomes.

Judgment & Taste

  • You notice what others miss.

  • You can quickly identify what matters, where risks exist, and which opportunities deserve attention. You bring thoughtful judgment to difficult decisions and maintain high standards even when information is incomplete.

  • Many of the initiatives you lead will not come with a playbook.

  • You know how to make progress without compromising the standard.

Stewardship

  • You understand that stewardship means honoring what has been built while helping create what comes next.

  • You think beyond individual projects and take responsibility for what happens next.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a colleague to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer or attending meetings.

  • Ability to occasionally move throughout office, hotel, restaurant, and event environments.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, candidates, leadership teams, and external partners in person, virtually, and by phone.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry items up to 15 pounds.

  • Ability to travel occasionally between properties, venues, events, or business functions as needed.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment with varying levels of noise, activity, and interaction.

Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
