Our Product Quality Engineer (PQE) is responsible for ensuring product quality, reliability, and manufacturability throughout the product development lifecycle for commercial electronic products. This role partners closely with hardware, manufacturing, supply chain, and sourcing teams to drive robust designs, effective validation, and high-yield production. The PQE focuses on proactive quality planning, risk reduction, and continuous improvement from concept through production and sustaining phases.
The desired deliverables are as follows:
What You will be Doing:
- Establishes component, sub-system, and system-level quality requirements aligned with product and customer specifications.
- Partners with hardware design teams to assess design robustness, manufacturability (DFM/DFA), and testability throughout development.
- Leads and supports component- and system-level DFMEA activities to identify, mitigate, and document product risks.
- Reviews and approves component, PCB, and assembly design documentation from a quality and reliability perspective.
- Defines supplier component and product-level inspection criteria, control plans, and sampling strategies.
- Develops production quality specifications, including in-process and end-of-line test requirements.
- Reviews and approves supplier quality documentation including PFMEAs, control plans, PPAPs, etc…
- Partners with global sourcing teams to qualify new suppliers, manage supplier change requests, and address supply chain risks.
- Supports issue management and issuance of corrective action reports (CAR) for product, supplier, or field quality issues.
- Supports failure analysis of components, PCBs, and assemblies using systematic problem-solving tools.
- Drives continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost of poor quality (COPQ) while maintaining or improving product quality.
- Supports pilot builds, production ramp, and ongoing manufacturing by identifying yield issues and driving corrective actions.
- Participates in product change management, ensuring quality impact is assessed and controlled throughout the lifecycle.
- Supports data collection and maintaining supplier score cards from the quality perspective.
What You Bring:
- B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent technical experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in product quality, manufacturing quality, or new product introduction (NPI) within an electronics industry.
- Strong understanding of electronic components, PCB assemblies, and electromechanical systems.
- Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, and risk-based quality methodologies.
- Experience with supplier quality management and new supplier qualifications.
- Experience defining and executing validation, qualification, and reliability test plans.
- Strong problem-solving skills using structured quality tools (8D, Ishikawa, 5-Why, SPC, etc.).
- Proficiency utilizing variation methodologies such as DMAIC or RED X.
- Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency with various tools for testing electronics functionality & troubleshooting. (Ex. Multimeter, Oscilloscope, Hipot, Spectrum Analyzer, etc…)
- Travel is to be considered on an as needed basis with the ability to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 30–50%) to support supplier development, supplier evaluations, manufacturing readiness, design validation builds, quality audits, and corrective action activities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified in lean six sigma or other quality standards by a recognized body such as ASQ or SSGI.
- Certified in UL/ISO/NSF quality certifications.
- Familiarity with industry quality standards and methods (IPC, ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or similar).
- Experience with supporting Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
- Understanding of PCB fabrication, SMT assembly, and electronic manufacturing processes.
- Exposure to certification and compliance processes (UL, FCC, CE, etc.).
- Experience supporting wireless, camera, or embedded electronic products.
- Familiarity with reliability testing methods (HALT, HASS, thermal cycling, vibration, etc.).

Salary Range: $75,000. - 85,000. This is the expected salary range for this position. Ultimately, in determining pay, we'll consider the successful candidate’s location, experience, and other job-related factors.
