Position Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating daily manufacturing operations within the wire harness production area. This role ensures that production targets, quality standards, safety requirements, and customer delivery commitments are consistently achieved. The Production Supervisor provides leadership to production associates, promotes continuous improvement, and supports operational excellence in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities in wire harness assembly operations.
- Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality and efficiency standards.
- Monitor production performance metrics, including productivity, scrap, downtime, and labor utilization.
- Allocate manpower and resources to achieve operational goals.
- Ensure adherence to standard work instructions and manufacturing procedures.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop production associates and team leaders.
- Conduct daily shift meetings to communicate production goals, safety topics, and operational updates.
- Manage employee performance, attendance, discipline, and development activities.
- Foster a positive work environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Quality Management
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality requirements.
- Support corrective and preventive actions related to quality issues.
- Work closely with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve production concerns.
- Promote a culture of zero defects and continuous quality improvement.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with company safety policies.
- Conduct safety observations, audits, and incident investigations.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Support compliance with customer, company, and regulatory requirements.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and optimize processes.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance teams to improve equipment and production flow.
Communication & Coordination
- Coordinate activities with Planning, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain departments.
- Provide accurate shift reports and communicate production performance to management.
- Support new product launches, engineering changes, and process improvements.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent manufacturing experience may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in wire harness, cable assembly, automotive, electronics, or related manufacturing preferred.
- Experience managing production teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
