Position Summary
The Material Handler plays a critical support role within Palmer Hamilton’s manufacturing operations by ensuring production workstations are properly stocked, organized, and prepared with the necessary materials, tools, and components. This role directly supports trim, weld, and fabrication teams to help maintain workflow efficiency, product quality, and on-time production schedules.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and team-focused, with the ability to anticipate production needs and adapt quickly in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Production Support & Material Handling
- Set up and stage workstations accurately and on time for trim, weld, and fabrication teams.
- Transport raw materials, components, tools, and finished products throughout the department as directed.
- Monitor daily production schedules to anticipate material and tooling needs.
- Ensure production areas remain stocked and organized to support continuous workflow.
Inventory & Equipment Tracking
- Utilize inventory control scanning systems to track tools, fixtures, materials, and supplies.
- Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of materials and equipment.
- Report shortages, damaged materials, or discrepancies to supervisors promptly.
Cross-Training & Department Support
- Learn and perform basic functions of the Trimmer position to provide coverage and support as needed.
- Assist with minor maintenance tasks and basic construction duties within the department.
- Support team members by stepping into various roles to meet production demands.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment once certified.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe workstations and production areas.
- Report safety concerns, hazards, or equipment issues promptly.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify component defects.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with coworkers, team leaders, and supervisors.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn new skills.
Qualifications
- Willingness and ability to obtain forklift certification.
- Experience using basic power hand tools such as rivet guns, screw guns, impact tools, and drills.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production support role preferred but not required.

Work Environment
Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, temperature variations, and moving machinery. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required based on task and area.
