What You Can Expect

The Infection Solutions Associate Director is responsible for the business and operational leadership of the clinical laboratory, including customer service, laboratory operations, budgeting, medical billing, privacy and security, payer contracting and revenue cycle oversight. This role drives compliant, efficient laboratory performance, supports strategic growth initiatives, partners cross-functionally on new product introductions, and helps develop a high-performing team and operating culture.

This position is onsite 3 days per week in Baltimore, MD. 

How You'll Create Impact

  • Responsible for business related functions of the clinical laboratory; customer service, local IT, laboratory operations, budgeting, revenue cycle management, privacy and security.
  • Implement local clinical laboratory strategies that are integrated with Zimmer Biomet marketing and growth plans.
  • Oversee all laboratory operations and engineering activities related to the production of Zimmer Biomet Diagnostic services that are compliant with current and future regulations
  • Drive and link business opportunities with the application of innovative technologies in clinical laboratory processes.
  • Interface with Product Development, Franchise Management, Health Economics and Market Access (HEMA) and Marketing groups for successful introduction of new products.
  • Attract, retain, and encourage individual development of key personnel for future assignments by arranging appropriate formal training, mentoring or other experiences.
  • Develop and drive an operating culture that promotes consistency of behaviors that lead to superior business performance.
  • Evaluate potential contracts and fee schedules with payers, assisting with negotiations and contract approval.
  • Oversee CD Laboratories claims processing, ensuring efficient and compliant claims processes
  • Monitor and provide oversight of third-party revenue cycle/billing vendor. 

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory operations and applicable regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, CLIA, NYSDOH, CMS, and COLA/CAP.
  • Experience with medical billing, claims processing, revenue cycle oversight, and payer contracting.
  • Ability to ensure privacy, security, and compliance across laboratory and business operations.
  • Strong financial and operational acumen, including budgeting, vendor oversight, and process improvement.
  • Effective cross-functional leadership and collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and vendors.
  • Proven people leadership skills, including coaching, talent development, change management, and building a high-performing team culture.
  • Experience working in a regulated clinical laboratory, diagnostic services or medical device/healthcare environment.
  • Experience with payer contracting, billing vendor oversight and compliance within healthcare or laboratory services.

Your Background

  • Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience, or Associate's Degree and 8 years of relevant experience, or High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Life Sciences, Clinical Laboratory Science or related field highly preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in clinical laboratory operations, healthcare business operations, medical billing, revenue cycle or other related healthcare industry experience highly preferred.

Travel Expectations

Up to 15%. 

Expected Compensation Range

$144,000 - $181,000 USD/annual
