Field Runner



Reports to: Assistant Parts Manager

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Hours: Monday—Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM unless otherwise dictated; some Saturdays may be required; 45-50 hour work week

Job Location: 2040 Alum Creek Drive, Columbus, OH 43207



General Overview: The Field Runner will deliver, pick up, and move small tools, field supplies, and large items to and from facilities, suppliers, and various job sites. The person will consistently demonstrate the company’s core values: Integrity, Gratitude, Excellence, and Leadership.



Responsibilities:

  • Conducts vehicle and equipment inspections
  • Receives orders, plans daily routes efficiently, and schedules deliveries and pickups
  • Loads and unloads tools, materials, and equipment for delivery or return
  • Prepares loads using straps, chains, binders, and load bars to secure materials
  • Delivers items to job sites, Company facilities, suppliers, and vendors; returns items when complete
  • Operates equipment used for loading and unloading (SkyTrak, Bobcat, Forklift, etc.)
  • Drives company vehicles, including towing trailers and hitch-mounted equipment
  • Organizes, inventories, and stages materials and small tools as needed
  • Assists with the management of the Company yard and supports dispatch functions when required
  • Communicates with job sites, vendors, and internal teams regarding orders, deliveries, and changes
  • Determines hauling needs and identifies when alternate vehicles are needed
  • Supports process improvements related to routing, loading methods, and delivery efficiency
  • Performs general labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, climbing, and repetitive loading/unloading throughout the day
  • Knows and adheres to all Company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of construction tools, materials, and equipment; knowledge of proper load securement methods and safe hauling practices; knowledge of company policies and procedures; skill in operating forklifts, skid steers, telehandlers, and similar equipment; skill in driving and maneuvering vehicles with trailers; skill in reading GPS, and navigating efficiently; skill in communicating clearly with peers, managers, vendors, and field staff; skill in organizing loads and working independently; ability to lift 50 pounds or more, carry, push, pull, climb, stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; ability to perform repetitive motions while loading/unloading; ability to work safely in varied weather conditions; ability to work a smartphone/tablet for communication, mapping, and order tracking.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Class B CDL required; Class A CDL preferred
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening. (George J. Igel & Co., Inc. is a SUPR Workplace and tests for marijuana)
  • Must maintain an MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) that meets the Company’s eligibility requirements
  • Must have reliable transportation
