Your Impact:
As OpenText accelerates its AI transformation, we are investing in Ireland as a strategic R&D center for advanced AI engineering, applied AI platforms, sovereign cloud, cybersecurity, and trusted enterprise innovation.
As part of our investment, we’re looking to welcome a Director, AI Engineering and Applied AI Platform, R&D to build and lead a high impact AI engineering capability in our Cork Centre of Excellence. You will be responsible for establishing and scaling an Ireland based team focused on reusable applied AI platform capabilities, agentic AI systems, orchestration patterns, evaluation frameworks, production deployment standards, and responsible AI engineering practices.
This is a practical build and scale leadership role. You will translate enterprise AI strategy into production grade engineering capability, working closely with product engineering, cloud operations, security, architecture, legal, compliance, Enterprise AI, and business stakeholders. The role is not simply about experimenting with AI. It is about building reusable platforms, patterns, tools, and engineering practices that allow AI capabilities to be delivered safely, consistently, and at enterprise scale across OpenText products and operations.
You’re great at:
- Defining and executing AI engineering strategy, roadmap, and investment priorities
- Owning business outcomes (revenue growth, cost optimization, automation impact)
- Building and scaling high-performing teams (25+ engineers)
- Delivering reusable AI platform capabilities (agents, orchestration, APIs, evaluation frameworks)
- Driving platform adoption across product lines (avoid duplication) Establish AI governance frameworks (Responsible AI, model risk, evaluation standards)
- Engaging directly with enterprise customers and field teams to validate roadmap
- Managing ecosystem partnerships (hyperscalers, AI vendors)
- Leading innovation outputs (patents, research, academic collaboration)
- Ensuring production excellence: reliability, scalability, cost efficiency
What you need to succeed:
- 12+ years in enterprise software / AI engineering
- 5+ years leading large-scale engineering organizations or leading R&D
- Proven experience delivering AI systems to production with measurable outcomes
- Experience managing large budgets and prioritizing portfolios
- Strong understanding of enterprise SaaS and go-to-market dynamics
