Therapist New Horizons | Audrey Grace House
The Therapist (Clinician) at the Audrey Grace House plays a critical role in supporting the healing and growth of children and adolescents who have experienced abuse, neglect, and complex trauma. This position is responsible for providing high-quality therapeutic services while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary treatment team to ensure coordinated, individualized care.
Therapists are not only clinicians — they are clinical leaders within the milieu. They work alongside Direct Care Staff, case managers, and leadership to help create and sustain a trauma-informed, emotionally safe, and therapeutic environment where kids can build coping skills, emotional regulation, and healthy relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy to children and adolescents in a residential treatment setting, maintaining an average caseload of approximately 1:10
- Serve as an active member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, collaborating with Direct Care Staff, case managers, and leadership to ensure therapeutic continuity and coordinated care
- Develop, implement, and update individualized service plans in collaboration with the child and Service Planning Team
- Review and utilize CANS 3.0 assessment results to guide treatment planning, determine therapy frequency, and align interventions with assessed needs
- Assign developmentally appropriate therapeutic tasks that support treatment goals and skill development
- Complete clinical documentation, case notes, and service plan updates in accordance with agency policy, licensing standards, and contractual requirements
- Provide consultation and guidance to Direct Care Staff to support a trauma-informed milieu and effective therapeutic responses in daily care
- Support staff understanding of trauma, behavior, and emotional regulation through collaboration and clinical insight
- Respond to crisis situations as part of the agency’s on-call rotation, using sound clinical judgment and de-escalation strategies
- Adhere to the New Horizons Employee Handbook, Philosophy, Treatment Model, and all applicable ethical and professional standards
- Maintain confidentiality of protected health information and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Participate in ongoing professional development and clinical supervision as required
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related human services field required.
- Current Texas licensure as an LPC or LCSW required.
- Must be credentialed with Medicaid or eligible for Medicaid credentialing.
- Strong clinical background in trauma-focused treatment, with emphasis on trauma resolution rather than trauma awareness alone, strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children and adolescents who have experienced abuse, neglect, and complex trauma.
- Ability to perform clinical crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and therapeutic de-escalation.
- Demonstrated cultural humility and ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Experience in residential treatment settings preferred.
- Must successfully complete criminal background check, drug screening, and tuberculosis screening.
Working Conditions
This position operates in a mixed indoor and outdoor residential treatment environment with continuous interaction with youth, families, and staff. The schedule requires flexibility and participation in a 24-hour on-call rotation coordinated by the Treatment Director.
Physical requirements
The Therapist must be able to meet the physical demands of a residential treatment environment, including considerable walking, standing, and movement throughout the facility. The role requires the ability to hear and assess situations quickly, respond appropriately in crisis situations, and provide CPR and First Aid when needed. The position may require responding when a child is a danger to themselves or others, including the use of approved physical restraint techniques in accordance with training and agency policy.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $70,000.00 annually
