About Occupational Therapy
Our Occupational Therapy department at Austin Health is a progressive hub of patient-centred care, continuous improvement, professional growth and supportive career structures. Our focus is on wellbeing, evidence-based service improvement, sustainable workforce, growth and development. This role will join our Better at Home Program.

About Better@Home
Better@Home is an inpatient bed substitution service allowing patients to continue their care at home. The program now provides acute and subacute multi-disciplinary care to help patients achieve their goals, prevent re-admission and in certain circumstances, avoid hospital admission altogether. Patients are admitted to the program from any of the three Austin Health sites. The program has a grade 4 allied health team leader as well as a multidisciplinary team comprising nursing, medical and allied health professionals.
About the role
The grade 3 occupational therapist will be recognised as a clinical expert in acute and/or subacute care with consolidated skills in client-centred assessment, intervention and complex discharge. The grade 3 OT provides expert patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team and is expected to act as a leader within the MDT to support the delivery of excellent patient care.
Eligible Occupational Therapists can become credentialled to the perform the advanced scope role of an Allied Health Interdisciplinary Practitioner (AHIP). AHIPs are trained to deliver excellent transdisciplinary allied health (primarily occupational therapy and physiotherapy) services to Better@Home clients who have complex needs.
