Job Responsibilities:
To organize & execute laser fixture changeovers & set-ups for maximum efficiency to attain a quality First Off product which meets or exceeds customer-specific requirements
Responsibilities:
Responsible for quality & conformance of product to customer specifications per control plans utilizing IATF16949 documented systems; authority to stop non-conforming processes and report same to Supervisor, Quality Assurance and/or Engineering representative
Orchestrate timely & efficient set-up of Laser tooling and fixtures as required by production schedules to attain a quality First Off product and attain machine rates
Set-up of holding tooling, fixtures, & sensors in the Laser cutting machine; mount and align fixture(s) & load CNC programs in a neatly organized, safe, & timely manner
Troubleshoot & operate Laser equipment to attain and maintain a quality product at an acceptable machine rate while minimizing machine downtime
Create and document standardized Laser changeover team activities including Operator and Material Handler duties & work cell layouts which minimize downtime
Perform basic tool, fixture, and equipment repairs as required during setup activities with support from Maintenance Technicians and Laser Engineering team
Perform Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) tasks as required per the TPM schedule developed by the Laser Maintenance & Engineering team
Seek out and document Continuous Improvement suggestions which improve changeover efficiency, maximize machine uptime, and/or improve safety and/or quality
Follow written work instructions and quality inspections including 100% visual inspection, packaging, tagging and product labeling per the customer’s specifications
Housekeeping, 5S duties, and other activities as assigned
Qualifications:
Laser machine operation and CNC programming & set-up
2-4 years’ experience required
Prior Stamping or Assembly experience helpful but not required
Statistical Process Control (SPC) experience
Knowledge & thorough understanding of standard “G code” programming
Knowledge & solid understanding of three-dimensional CNC machining
Fork truck license
Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, setup and operating instructions and basic repair & maintenance documents
Ability to create & follow written set-up instructions and apply common-sense understanding of same
Ability to problem-solve and think in three dimensions (spatial reasoning)
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and/or employees
Ability to anticipate think ahead of actions
Knowledge of intermediate mathematical equations
Ability to work overtime as needed
Fork Truck
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical college diploma and/or combination of technical education and hands-on technical manufacturing experience preferred
Advanced computer knowledge required & proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Advanced Manufacturing, machine shop and CNC machining preferred
