Farnell, an Avnet company, is a global high-service distributor of technology products, services and solutions for electronic system design, maintenance and repair.
Main Purpose and Goal:
- The BI operations lead for EMEA oversees the operational governance and service delivery of the BI landscape and its processes
- The role leads and coordinates BI operational activities in collaboration with cross-functional teams and with assigned support resources
- The role is to ensure stable, compliant, and efficient BI operations including platform administration, user access governance, incident coordination, and stakeholder communication
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
BI Operations Management
Own and manage the day-to-day operational stability and performance of BI platforms, dashboards, and reporting services.
Monitor BI system availability, performance, data quality, and operational incidents.
Coordinate issue resolution and ensure timely escalation of critical incidents.
Investigate and resolve data pipeline, reporting, data access, and dashboard issues.
Collaborate with data engineering, infrastructure, and application teams to resolve complex technical problems.
Maintain operational procedures, support documentation, and knowledge bases.
Drive continuous improvement and optimisation of BI operational processes and service delivery.
Ensure adequate operational coverage and business support continuity during holidays and absences.
User Management and Stakeholder Communication
Manage BI user onboarding, offboarding, and role-based access management.
Ensure compliance with internal security policies and data governance standards.
Review and approve user access requests in collaboration with data owners and relevant stakeholders
Conduct periodic access reviews and entitlement recertifications.
Maintain accurate records of user permissions and audit trails.
Act as the primary communication lead for BI outages, maintenance activities, and operational incidents.
Promote transparency and user awareness regarding BI services and self-service processes
Governance and Compliance
BI operational audits and ensure audit readiness across BI systems and processes.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and internal governance requirements.
Document operational controls, procedures, and audit evidence
Monitor adherence to data governance, retention and access management policies.
Profile:
- 3+ years of professional experience in the area of Business Intelligence, IT operations, technical support functions and/or consulting
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in information systems, computer science, business analytics, or a related field
- Experience with database technologies, SQL, ETL processes, analytics platforms, and incident management workflows
- Experience with BI and data platforms such as Azure Data Factory, SAP BW, Celonis, Microsoft Power BI, and Databricks is considered as a plus
- Strong organizational skills with structured and independent working style
- Service-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability take ownership of BI operations while collaborating effectively with cross-functional team
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build relationships across teams.
- Basic project management knowledge and coordination skills
